Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course is designed for students who have some experience with supply chain management methods and practices. It focuses on the international quality systems, e.g. ISO 9000 and other quality systems, which are applicable to supply chains and attracting the attention of the global competitive businesses that aim to implement these methods in the most efficient way. In the first part, the course covers conceptual principles of quality management, its major stakeholders, possible barriers to effective quality management and control, and the cost of quality management to businesses. Following that, the course is focused on techniques for quality management. These techniques include both quantitative and qualitative approach. Following that the course will present challenges of identifying data, working with it, deriving management decisions based on that. As a concluding part of the course there will be a section on standard management practices and their importance for the company’s efficiency in implementing decisions and improvements.

Assessment Elements

Assessment Elements

    • Attendance registration. • Score maximum: 10 points.
  • non-blocking Tests
    • 3 tests based on studied materials; • Tests duration each 10 minutes; • Question and offered options for answers with be defined in a way to minimize possibility to use neural network; • The only tests form attended students will be scored. Absent student will get 0 points. • Maximum score: 10 points.
  • non-blocking FMEA group project
    • FMEA Group projects, 7 participants in a group as maximum; • Scoring is for each group. • A possibility to use neural network will be taken into account.
  • blocking The exam test
    Examination will be conducted in a computer class. Test is placed on a Smart LMS platform. Test consists of opened and closed questions with several answers (there could be one or several right answers or even without it). Questions are based on studied materials.
