Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication
This programme focuses on the fundamental training of graduates in a chosen area of specialization. The basis of the programme lies in original courses taught by leading Russian and foreign experts in the theory and methods of teaching, translation, linguistics, philology and intercultural communication. A portion of the subjects will be taught in a foreign language.
Every March and April, the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) traditionally holds four student conferences. The conferences have much in common, but each of them still has their own history, traditions, and unique profile. While waiting for the student science marathon, we met with the organizers and asked them about the specific features of each conference and innovations for this year.
In 2021, the HSE French Club celebrates its 15th anniversary. On February 15,Louis Ernou, a French student currently doing his Master’s in Russian Studies at HSE University, gave a talk about French history for the club members. To learn more about the French Club, we spoke with Louis Ernou, Natalia Zhukova, head of the HSE French Club and tutor at the School of Foreign Languages, and Valeria Vazhenina, student head of the Club and first-year student of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication.
Creativity, enthusiasm and, of course, a love for foreign languages are what make the bachelor’s and master’s students of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication (FLaIC) so special. Polina Kochina graduated from the FLaIC bachelor's programme and is now working towards her master's degree. We asked her about her studies and how she spends her free time.
