Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication
The Master's Programme in Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication is open for all bachelors and specialists majoring in the humanities and other fields. Students who have been admitted but do not have degrees in linguistics or philology will have the opportunity to attend intensive bridging programme courses that will enable them to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to comfortably navigate the programme.
The programme comprises original courses taught by leading Russian and international experts in education, language instruction, translation and interpreting, linguistics, philology, and intercultural communication. Courses are taught in both English and Russian. The following specializations are taught exclusively in English: ‘Foreign Language Teaching’ and ‘Intercultural Communication in a Global Communication Space’.
The programme welcomes both Russian and international applicants.
Linguatest,the recently launched Russian foreign-language certification testing system developed by HSE University specialists, continues to develop and expand its geographic scope. Test centres are currently open in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod, and a new one is set to appear in Khabarovsk.
On September 1st, a new season of the open Student Research Paper Competition (SRPC) started. This competition is aimed at developing the potential of university students who are interested in academic activities. Students, as well as 2023 graduates of Russian and foreign universities, can submit their papers for the competition until October 15th, 2023. This year SRPC turns 20 years old, throughout the competition’s history, Vadim Radaev, HSE University’s First Vice Rector, has been the chair of the organising committee. In today’s interview, he talks about the history of the competition and the key stages in its development.
HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov has congratulated students, teachers, and staff on Knowledge Day, which marks the beginning of the new academic year and is celebrated in Russia on September 1. ‘This day marks the new opportunities that open up to us and calls us to climb the most unreachable heights,’ he said.
