Linguatest Comes to Khabarovsk
Linguatest, the recently launched Russian foreign-language certification testing system developed by HSE University specialists, continues to develop and expand its geographic scope. Test centres are currently open in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod, and a new one is set to appear in Khabarovsk.
Preparations are in full swing at Pacific National University (PNU) for the opening of a Linguatest regional representative office. The first tests are planned to take place next month.
The Linguatest system was created at HSE University. It is a universal multi-level test that assesses foreign-language proficiency from the beginner to professional levels in each of the four types of speech activity: reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
The opening of a regional representative office was made possible thanks to a cooperation agreement between HSE University, JSC Prosveshcheniye National Accreditation Agency, and Pacific National University. The document affirms the parties’ readiness to jointly develop the Linguatest system.
The opening of the Linguatest Far Eastern regional representative office in Khabarovsk makes it possible not only to expand the geographic scope of the system throughout the Far Eastern Federal District, but also to attract a wide audience of people who want to take the test and receive a certificate of foreign language proficiency.
The target audience of the Linguatest system is not limited to the academic community, university professors, school teachers, undergraduate and graduate students, representatives of business community, various organisations and their employees—it includes anyone interested in learning English. The testing system is designed for candidates over 18 years of age.
‘We expect that the certificate will help people build their personal trajectory, ensure mobility in education, and simplify dialogue with employers,’ said HSE Rector Nikita Anisimov at a press conference dedicated to the launch of Linguatest in November last year. ‘The next step should be testing in other foreign languages, including Russian as a foreign language. This will help promote Russian as a language of international communication.’
In addition to conducting regular testing sessions at PNU, the regional representative office can hold short- and long-term preparation courses for testing in the Linguatest format. Teachers will also be trained here to implement these programmes.
Registration for the first session in October is now open.

On November 29–30, HSE University hosted the Third International Online Conference 'Languages, Education, Development' (HSE LED Conference). The conference was attended by more than a thousand participants, including researchers and teachers, methodologists, language education experts, administrators, and business representatives. Linguatest Accepted for Credit Transfer in Bachelor's Degrees and Applications to HSE Master's and Doctoral Programmes
Linguatest is a multi-level test that assesses candidates’ level of proficiency in a foreign language, from elementary to advanced. Now, the results of the test are accepted when transferring elective subjects in English, as well as for internal and independent examinations in bachelor's degrees. The changes also affect admission to HSE master's and doctoral programmes: Linguatest is included in the list of certificates in a foreign language that can be presented when applying for master's and doctoral programmes starting from 2023.
HSE University Launches Linguatest, a Domestic Foreign-Language Testing System
Linguatest is available in two versions: academic and business. It can be taken in person at dedicated centres or online in proctored sessions. Registration in now open for the first exam sessions in Moscow in December 2022.

HSE Student Wins 2015 Labcitoyen French competition!
Tatiana Shakhova, a third-year student in HSE’s Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, has won the 2015 Labcitoyen competition. This year’s Labcitoyen competition was carried out by the Institut Français (Paris) and the Institut Français of Russia as part of preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP21, scheduled to take place in Paris in November and December 2015. The grand prize was a trip to Paris to attend the conference.
