Nikita Anisimov was born on February 20, 1978 in Khimki (Moscow region). 

In 1998, he graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU). 

In 2001, he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (PhD).

From 2002 to 2013, he worked at MSU in the following positions: Leading Specialist, Department Head, Deputy Vice Rector, Deputy Chair of the Central Admissions Committee, Director of the Institute of Retraining and Continuing Education, Vice Rector.

From 2007 to 2009, Nikita Anisimov served as Executive Secretary of the Russian Council of School Olympiads.

From 2013 to 2016, he held positions of Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, First Vice Rector, and Acting Rector at the University of Mechanical Engineering (Moscow).

From August 2016 to June 2021, Nikita Anisimov was Rector of the Far Eastern Federal University.

Starting July 2021, he heads HSE University.

First Graduates of Institute of Education Joint Programme Receive Diplomas

In 2021, HSE University was involved in the launch of two joint master’s programmes. The first was implemented by Pskov State University and the HSE University Institute of Education. The second was a joint project between the Institute of Education and the ‘Investment to the Future’ charitable foundation created by Sberbank. The first graduation ceremonies for both programmes took place on July 4. The graduands were awarded their master’s diplomas by HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov, Pskov State University First Vice Rector Olga Serova, and Director of Projects at the Investment to the Future foundation Ekaterina Yadova.

HSE University and Football National League Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

On June 30, HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov and Russian Football National League President Nail Izmaylov signed a cooperation and partnership memorandum aimed at developing and popularising Russian football.

HSE University and Rossotrudnichestvo Agree to Train Specialists in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language

HSE University and Rossotrudnichestvo have signed an agreement to establish a Russian Language Centre at HSE University in St Petersburg. It will train teachers of Russian studies and future leaders of educational programmes and courses of Russian as a foreign language. The document was signed by HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov and Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

HSE University and Agency for Strategic Initiatives Sign Cooperation Agreement

HSE University and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) have agreed to cooperate in the development of new technologies, the digital transformation of the economy, and the social development of the country. The agreement was signed by HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov and ASI Director General Svetlana Chupsheva at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Annual Report of Rediscovering Russia Student Expedition Project for 2022 Published

The team of HSE University’s Rediscovering Russia project, with the support of the presidential platform Russia—Land of Opportunity and the More Than a Trip programme, has published an annual report on the results of the 2022 season in the format of a book. The publication includes key results, travel geography, project development plans, and much more.

‘We Would Be Happy to See More Iranian Students at Our University’

HSE University has hosted the signing of cooperation agreements with two Iranian universities—Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU) and the University of Isfahan (UI). Delegations from the universities led by ATU President Abdollah Motamedi and UI President Hossein Harsij visited HSE University and met with Rector Nikita Anisimov and staff of the HSE International Office led by Vice Rector Victoria Panova.

Big Challenges: Project Session on Yamal Held at HSE University

HSE University has hosted the project session ‘The Big Challenges Faced by Yamal’, whose speakers included Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO) Dmitry Artyukhov, HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov, and Vice Rector Dmitry Zemtsov. HSE University students designed concepts for expeditions to the region that they will be able to embark on in 2023–2024 as part of the ‘Rediscovering Russia’ project.

HSE University and University of Technology Malaysia Sign Cooperation Agreement

On May 18, 2023, HSE University and the University of Technology Malaysia signed an agreement on scientific and educational cooperation at the XIV International Economic Forum ‘Russia—Islamic World: KazanForum’. The agreement was signed by HSE Rector Nikita Anisimov and UTM Vice Chancellor Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail.

HSE University and Alfa-Bank Sign Cooperation Agreement

The partners have agreed to develop education in the field of fintech. The corresponding bilateral agreement was signed by HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov and Alfa-Bank CEO Vladimir Verkhoshinskiy.

Academic Council: HSE University’s Contribution to Achieving National Goals and Development Priorities to Increase

HSE University’s Development Programme until 2030 will be improved in order to increase the university’s contribution to achieving national goals and implementing the priorities of the country’s scientific and technological development. This decision was made by the university’s Academic Council on April 26. The meeting also addressed the principles for the development of HSE University’s external communications, one of which is the creation of a high-quality information field around the university.

HSE University and Kamchatka State University Sign Cooperation Agreement

On April 17, HSE University and Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University signed a cooperation agreement at the Durasov House on Pokrovsky Boulevard. The new partnership will include joint expeditions, research, and educational activities, including a permanent expedition to research and preserve the languages ​​and cultures of Kamchatka.

Human Capital Multidisciplinary Research Centre Presents Results to International Supervisory Board

Perm Continues to Implement Project to Create World-Class Interuniversity Campus

As part of his working trip to Perm, HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov visited the site where the new campus is being built, and also held talks with the Governor of Perm Krai, Dmitry Makhonin. The student campus is expected to be fully operational in 2026. The campus will house learning spaces, laboratories, a sports complex with a swimming pool, a congress hall, and a hotel complex for students and teachers.

XXIV Yasin (April) Academic Conference Kicks Off at HSE University

HSE University is hosting the XXIV Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development in Moscow from April 4–14. The conference has attracted over 3,000 leading researchers, experts, business representatives and government officials from over 30 countries. The leaders of HSE University—Rector Nikita Anisimov, Academic Supervisor Yaroslav Kuzminov, and President Alexander Shokhin—addressed the conference participants.

There’s Something for Everyone at HSE University

On March 12, the HSE University Pokrovka building hosted an Open Day. Development of Faculty of Creative Industries Discussed at HSE Academic Council Meeting

Kamchatka: Your Amazing Adventure

The photo exhibition ‘Kamchatka: Your Amazing Adventure’ was officially opened as part of the Days of Kamchatka event held by HSE University in the building on Pokrovsky Boulevard from January 19 to February 10. Visitors will learn about life in the region through photos of the unique landscapes and wildlife sanctuaries of the peninsula, the traditional Beringia dog-sled race, and the main symbols of the Kamchatka Region—brown bears, Pacific salmon, and wild reindeer.

HSE University-Developed Linguatest System Launched in Nizhny Novgorod

Linguatest, Russia’s first foreign-language certification system, has been launched in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The system was developed by specialists from HSE University in cooperation with the National Accreditation Agency and the Prosveshchenie group of companies, who are providing certification and publishing support for the project. Nizhny Novgorod is the first city after Moscow to offer testing under the system.

Irina Karelina: HSE Today is a Partnership-Oriented University

In 2022, HSE University became an expert centre for universities across the Luhansk People’s Republic in analytical, methodical, and legal fields.  ‘Smart and Bright: Winners of Data Analysis National Olympiad Announced

The awards ceremony for the winners of the Data Analysis National Olympiad (DANO) has taken place at the HSE Cultural Centre. This is the second time the Olympiad has been held, and was organized by HSE University together with Tinkoff. About 7,000 participants from different regions of Russia and 13 other countries took part in the event. Those coming in the top 25 of the individual ratings will be able to study at HSE University for free.

Higher School of Economics in Kyrgyzstan to Open in Bishkek

On December 19, HSE Rector Nikita Anisimov and Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov met in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The parties agreed to implement a joint project to train staff for the economic block of the government of the republic. As part of the project’s first stage, the Higher School of Economics of Kyrgyzstan will be created on the basis of the Training Center of the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan with full methodological support from HSE University. This was a new systematic step in expanding cooperation between HSE University and the Government of Kyrgyzstan.

‘We Managed to Create a Unique Space for Inter-University Cooperation’

HSE University and the Russian Orthodox Church Saints Cyril and Methodius Institute for Postgraduate Studies (IPS) have celebrated a decade of cooperation and signed an agreement to continue their collaboration. Over the years, 45 people have graduated from each of the two joint master's programmes, an inter-campus minor is operating, and the HSE Centre for Religion and Law has been established.

Linguatest is available in two versions: academic and business. It can be taken in person at dedicated centres or online in proctored sessions. Registration in now open for the first exam sessions in Moscow in December 2022.

‘A Great Academic Holiday’: XIII International Conference on Higher Education Held at HSE University

The event’s main theme is ‘New Educational Outcomes for Well-being and Success’. This year, the XIII International Conference on Higher Education was held together with the Second All-Russian Conference on Individual Educational Trajectories. Road Map for the Future: Russia’s New Eastward Policy

HSE Academic Council Sums Up the Results of Admission Campaign

For the first time, HSE University has moved up to second place based on the average score of applicants enroled on state-funded bachelor's programmes. The implementation of the concept of ‘four campuses — one university’ has led to an increase in the number of applicants and the quality of admissions at the regional campuses. As well as this, enrolment on online programmes has increased by more than 50%. Despite a slight reduction in the number of international applicants due to external factors, the university has maintained its rigorous selection policy for prospective students. Among foreign countries, China has the largest number of students applying for HSE’s master’s programmes.

HSE University and Bank of Russia Hold First Russian School on Sustainable Development in Finance

The HSE University Graduate School of Business (GSB) has hosted the Autumn School in ESG Transformation of the Finance Sector. A total of 70 students from Russian universities passed the competitive selection process to take part. The four-day programme was devised and developed by the Central Bank of Russia. Over 16,700 People Have Enrolled in HSE University Bachelor’s, Specialist, and Master’s Programmes

TASS has held a press conference devoted to the results of the admissions campaigns of three leading Russian universities: MGIMO, HSE University, and Bauman University. The universities’ rectors revealed the most popular fields of study and other details of the admissions campaigns. The key results of the HSE University admissions campaign include greater demand for the campuses outside Moscow, an increase in the number of enrolments by winners of olympiads, and the university’s continued popularity among foreign applicants.

Record Number of Prospective Students Apply to HSE University

HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov summed up the interim results of the admission campaign for undergraduate programmes in 2022. According to data announced at the meeting of the HSE Admissions Committee, 26,455 prospective students applied to programmes across all university campuses. This is almost 1% more than last year, when 26,257 people applied to HSE University.

‘One of HSE University’s Strategic Goals is to Make Quality Higher Education Accessible to Students from all Corners of Our Country’

The first graduation ceremony for the joint HSE University and Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) Bachelor’s Programme in Economics took place in Vladivostok. 43 students were each awarded two diplomas. The programme, launched at the School of Economics and Management of Far Eastern Federal University in 2018, gives students the opportunity to master Russia's strongest programme and earn a diploma from HSE University without leaving the Far East. HSE University currently offers 11 double degree programmes at undergraduate and graduate level with nine Russian universities.

HSE University and Sberbank Sign Cooperation Agreement

HSE University and Sberbank have entered into a cooperation agreement. The document was signed by Herman Gref, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank, and HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov. The agreement is aimed at the implementation of shared educational, research, career-guidance, awareness-raising, and informational projects.

HSE Academic Council Meets for the Last Time This Academic Year

The document outlines the goals, tasks and responsibilities of the government and HSE University for its strategic development.
