‘The Purpose of Cooperation between HSE and Indian Universities Is a Brighter Future for Our Countries’
On April 11, the Indo-Russian Education Summit, uniting universities in Russia and India, opened in New Delhi. The opening ceremony was attended by Denis Alipov, Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Gribov, Deputy Minister of Education of Russia, Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, as well as representatives of Indian and Russian universities, including a delegation from HSE University.
The speakers from HSE University were Nikita Anisimov, Rector, and Anna Tyshetskaya, Director of HSE University in St Petersburg and Head of the HSE Academic Council Commission on International Activities. At the opening ceremony, Nikita Anisimov noted that HSE University has been successfully cooperating in the academic field with a number of Indian partners since 2022 and that this programme is operated by HSE University in St Petersburg. Among those partners are the University of Delhi, the Indian Institutes of Technology in Delhi, Mumbai (IIT Bombay), Kozhikode and Indore, the Indian Institute of Management Indore, and more. In only a short period of time, HSE University and Indian educational organisations have already achieved great success.
‘We exchange students and teachers and conduct joint research work. And, in the near future, we will expand our cooperation. Our plans are to sign agreements with several Indian universities, launch joint mirror laboratories, develop cooperation in the field of high technology, and work in any other possible areas,’ emphasised Nikita Anisimov.
HSE University Rector noted that after their studies, foreign students will return to India as highly trained specialists and will be able to develop high technology and digital economy in their homeland, improve communications and transport infrastructure, and work for the economic prosperity of the country.
‘When we train students, we shape our future together. And this is the main purpose of cooperation between HSE University and Indian universities. To create a brighter future with economic prosperity for our countries, develop joint educational projects, exchange experiences and popularise our rich culture, which has absorbed the entire civilisational essence of two great states—Russia and India,’ Nikita Anisimov explained.
Director of HSE University in St Petersburg, Anna Tyshetskaya, gave a presentation at the panel discussion ‘Career opportunities for Indian graduates of Russian universities, and business as a customer for the training of Indian personnel in Russia,’ which was attended by representatives of business, educational communities and the trade mission. HSE University’s report became a milestone of this event.
Anna Tyshetskaya noted that HSE University is entering the Indian educational market to become more competitive with universities in Europe and America. She stated that today, more and more Indian students are choosing to study at HSE University. The most popular areas of training for Indian students are economics, design, international relations, management, linguistics, finance and credit, and business informatics.
‘We have talented and ambitious students from India who are focused on global markets and want to integrate into the world economy. For many of them, it is important to gain fundamentally new experience within the walls of our university, including cultural experience, which will later be useful for working in their homeland,’ said Anna Tyshetskaya.
The Indo-Russian Education Summit took place in the capital of India from April 11 to 13. The event aimed to establish new contacts and develop existing ones in the field of education. The summit was organised by Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian House in New Delhi, and the Russian Centre for International Education.
The summit programme included an exhibition presenting Russian universities to a wide Indian audience and meetings between the management of Russian universities and Indian partners. Additionally, negotiations were held between the heads of relevant departments of the two countries in the format of a bilateral dialogue, touching on a wide range of issues within Russian–Indian cooperation.

HSE University and India's leading university have forged a cooperation agreement aimed at conducting joint research and fostering academic and cultural ties. The document was signed by Anna Tyshetskaya, Director of the HSE Campus in St Petersburg, and the head of IIT Bombay, Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri.
Neena Gupta Reports at the 100th HSE Seminar on Algebraic Transformation Groups
The distinguished Indian mathematician Professor Neena Gupta delivered a presentation at the celebration of the 100th seminar on algebraic transformation groups organised by the Laboratory on Algebraic Transformation Groups at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science. The seminar, which has been regularly held by the laboratory since 2020, is chaired by Ivan Arzhantsev, the head of the laboratory and dean of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science, along with senior research fellows of the laboratory Sergey Gayfullin and Alexander Perepechko.
HSE University Opens Research Hub at University of Delhi
HSE University and the University of Delhi have signed an agreement on strategic cooperation and joint actions. According to the agreement, a large research hub will begin operating at the partner university in India.
HSE University in St Petersburg Enters International Market of Continuing Education
