The second course at Tilburg University!

2nd year student of the MSc programme "Applied Social Psychology" Kamila Isaeva told of the arrival of students at Tilburg University in the framework of the double-degree program.

Only a few months ago we found out that we will participate in the double degree program and spend a year in the Netherlands. We are five students from Applied Social Psychology Master’s program at HSE, and we were selected because of our grades and excellence in our studies. Now that the excitement and the bureaucratic difficulties are behind us, we can share with you what the first months of studying in one of the best universities in Europe is like.

First, we all chose to study Economic Psychology, since Tilburg University maintains its leadership in this field for many years, and the program aims to maintain these standards.

Despite us having not that many actual lecture hours, studying takes up most of our free time. In a month, we have already read 36 research articles and passed 16 tests! That study load makes us focused at studying at all times.

We also feel a certain advantage over other students as we completed an extra year at HSE that provides us with solid background in the subject matter.

We lead class discussions, receive high grades for our tests, and find time to conduct our own research.

Tilburg is not only home to a great university, it is also a vibrant multicultural community. We made friends with students from Greece, Turkey, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and, of course, the Netherlands.

The town is beautiful with narrow streets and great biking lanes. In Tilburg, even those who never rode a bicycle before start using it every day. Bicycle is the most common mode of transportation, with locals riding while talking on the phone or holding an umbrella on a rainy day.

We are glad to be here, and it is worth all the effort that went into this!
