Open Day: Feel Like an HSE University Student

Open Day: Feel Like an HSE University Student

© HSE University

On March 3, HSE University will host a University-wide Open Day for applicants to bachelor's and specialist programmes. It is a significant event for the university, its teachers and students, and, of course, applicants. Participants will have a chance to learn more about HSE University’s academic and extracurricular environment, talk to representatives of faculties and educational programmes, participate in activities, and learn about opportunities for self-development.

The event will be held in Russian.

The annual Open Day at HSE University is an event where schoolchildren can get acquainted with the university, its structure, and the people who help it develop and grow. Applicants and their parents will be able to evaluate the university's quality of education and learn about its achievements, academic reputation, professional team of teachers, and research potential.

Attendees of the event will temporarily become students of HSE University: each participant will receive a ‘record book’ to fill with stickers awarded for completing activities from various university departments. At the end of the event, each participant will receive a ‘diploma’ by email.

Alexander Chepovskiy

Director of the Prospective Students Office

University students and teachers will share their experiences and knowledge with future applicants. They will talk about the way classes are conducted, how educational programmes are structured, and what projects can be implemented within them. Guests will be able to ask questions regarding studies and student life, find out more about topics they are interested in, and receive advice from students. This kind of direct communication helps applicants make a more informed choice when applying. In addition, visiting such events in person allows applicants to understand whether they are comfortable in these surroundings and whether they would like to return as students.

Open Day Programme

The event will open with a presentation on the rules of admission to HSE University in 2024. At the HSE Cultural Centre, representatives of the Admissions Committee will explain when and how one can submit documents, how to get a discount on tuition, and what applicants should pay attention to.

Throughout the day, the atrium of the university building on Pokrovsky Bulvar will feature an exhibition of stands representing various university departments, where visitors can learn in detail about HSE’s campuses, faculties, and institutes, the specifics of the educational process, career prospects, student projects, and academic mobility programmes.

Alongside the exhibition, there will be an interactive zone dedicated to student associations, while the classrooms will host meetings with university departments in the form of master classes, lectures, communication with deans, and workshops. Guests who take part in these will receive marks in their ‘record books’, and at the end, they will receive mementos of the occasion.

The Open Day programme also includes a tour of the building. Guests will visit the modern library and the Durasov House, the historical part of the building on Pokrovsky Bulvar. Prospective students will feel the university’s atmosphere and get an idea of how comfortable they would be while studying here.

Register for the Open Day

The Open Day will take place at 10 am on March 3 at 11 Pokrovsky Bulvar. For those who cannot come to HSE University in person, a webinar will be held on March 17, where representatives of the Admissions Committee will talk about the rules and admission trajectories in 2024, the benefits for winners of student competitions, and paid training opportunities.
