Michael McFaul: ‘We Hope that We’ll Have a Normal Relationship’

On May 25th Michael McFaul, US Ambassador in Russia, professor at Stanford University, gave an open lecture to the students of the Higher School of Economics.

On the 18th of November, Professor Arnoud Boot from the University of Amsterdam gave a public lecture at the inaugaral ICEF International conference. Its title was ‘Banking at the Crossroads: How to deal with Marketability and Complexity?’

‘We Should Reach a Compromise’

On October 27th Claude Blanchemaison, Honorary Professor of the HSE, Professor at the Paris-Dauphine University, and former French Ambassador to Russia, delivered an open lecture for the students of the Higher School of Economics.

Lessons of the Crisis for the Economic Theory

On April 4th Marek Dabrowsky gave a public lecture on ‘The global economic crisis: some lessons for the economic theory and economic policy’ at the HSE. The event took place as part of the XII International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.

Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs: ‘The Economy Is a Part of Culture’

On March 14th students, teachers and staff of the HSE met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Uri Rosenthal. The lecture was addressed primarily to the students and was broadcast to all HSE regional branches. Thanks to video conference facilities, HSE students from Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm had the opportunity not only to watch and listen to the speech, but also to ask questions to the minister after the lecture.

Public Policy: Double Degrees from the HSE and the University of Bologna

In early June Italian professors Cristian Vaccari and Lucio Picci gave a series of open lectures at the Higher School of Economics. Their visit is another step towards the implementation of the agreement on cooperation between the HSE and the University of Bologna signed in 2009.

Housing Policies in Welfare States

On April 7th Peter Boelhouwer gave a public lecture at the HSE on ‘Housing systems in Western Europe: Theory and Practice’. The lecture took place as a supplementary event to the 11th International Conference on the Problems of Economic and Social Development.
