13th International Conference on Concept Lattices and Their Applications

On July 18-22 the 13th International Conference on Concept Lattices and Their Applications was held at HSE. The conference has been organized since 2002. This year it was held in Russia for the first time. The event was organized by the International Laboratory for Intelligent Systems and Structural Analysis and the  School of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence of HSE Faculty of Computer Science.

The methods of Formal Concept Analysis are applied in different fields of science, from ontological modeling to software engineering, from medical informatics to financial analysis. The conference aims to bring together international researchers who use and develop FCA methods. This year over 70 experts from Germany, Denmark, France, the Czech Republic, and 15 more countries participated in the event.

The following researchers in Concept Lattices and closely related areas in mathematics, computer science and IT were keynote speakers at the conference: Lev Beklemishev (Mathematical Institute of Russian Academy of Science, HSE, Moscow), Boris Mirkin (Tenured Professor, School of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence, HSE) and Jérôme Euzenat (INRIA Grenoble). Bernhard Ganter (Professor, TU Dresden) spoke about data interlinking with formal concept analysis and link keys. The following staff members of the International Laboratory for Intelligent Systems and Structural Analysis also presented their reports: Dmitry Ilvovsky, Dmitry Ignatov, Yury Kashnitsky, Sergei Kuznetsov, Alexey Neznanov and Sergei Obiedkov.

Four workshops were organized in the framework of the conference: the International Workshop on Algorithms for FCA and Data Mining, the 3rd International Workshop on Concept Discovery in Unstructured Data, the 2nd International Workshop on Soft Computing Applications and Knowledge Discovery, and the 3rd International Workshop on Experimental Economics and Machine Learning. During the workshops the aspects of application of research findings in each area were discussed. The reports were published in the conference proceedings.
