Dear friends, our guests and listeners, it’s time to sum up this productive study year. We’ve achieved unbelievable results, and all because of doing it together with you. We’ve hold 14 events dedicated to different countries, enthralling parts of our big world. Every Culture Café was made with love and desire to interest every one of you, to inspire you to reach new heights and improve yourself. For us, it was a pleasure to share all these moments with you, hope, you feel the same! Faculty of Computer Science to Become First HSE Department with Own Endowment
On April 26, the HSE Academic Council approved a charter for the creation of a Board of Trustees at the Faculty of Computer Science. Board members include senior executives from Yandex, JetBrains, SAS, 1C, and Sberbank. The endowment will be used by the faculty to fund long-term projects.
HSE Gears up for Staff and Student Conference: A Look Back at the Faculty of Computer Science
On March 20, a conference for HSE staff and students will take place at HSE. It will consider the university’s development programme and elect the new Academic Council. The previous conference took place five years ago, in 2014, and the university has changed a lot since then. HSE News Service talked with some of the university leaders about how their own work at the University has changed over this period.
HSE Snow Fest to Bring Together HSE’s Snowboarders and Skiers Again
Every winter, HSE students and staff occupy the slope at the KANT skiing complex to organize the HSE Snow Fest. On this day, HSE students, HSE Lyceum students, and HSE staff together can go snowboarding and alpine skiing for free. In 2019, HSE Snow Fest takes place on February 10.
How Students Spent the Longest Night of the Year
On December 21, HSE students organized an Art & Science space called ‘NOCH’ (‘NIGHT’) on the site of the SAMSKARA exhibition at the ArtPlay Design Center in Moscow. Over the course of the seven-hour event, participants discussed the search for extraterrestrial civilizations, the significance of gender differences in post-industrial society, the use of modern technologies to meld art and science, and other exciting topics.
"Worldwide Conversation on Women’s Higher Education and Equality in the Workplace"
On November 26, the HSE Faculty of Computer Science held the ‘IT Girls Night’ for the fifth time. This year the event was organized within the University of London’s campaign ‘Worldwide Conversation on Women’s Higher Education and Equality in the Workplace’. This campaign celebrates 150 years since the University of London opened up its ‘Special Examinations for Women’, the first university-level examinations offered for women in the UK. Ten years later, this step led to the University of London becoming the first institution of higher education in the UK to open up full degrees for women.
