Erasmus at Its Very Best: HSE and King’s College London Launch an Erasmus+ Exchange Programme

The Higher School of Economics (HSE) and King’s College London, United Kingdom, are pleased to announce a new Erasmus+ academic exchange and mobility programme for students, researchers and staff for the 2016/17 academic year. This exchange programme is headed and coordinated by the Saint-Petersburg Campus of HSE (HSE – St. Petersburg) and the King’s Russia Institute accordingly.

For HSE students and scholars, this agreement with one of the world’s most renowned and top ranked universities provides access to a wide range of study and research opportunities in the capital of the United Kingdom, a country with a solid and rigorous academic tradition. For King’s, this first ever exchange agreement with a Russian university opens a gate to engage directly with one of the world’s most fascinating countries and cultures.

'This is an important and exciting development for HSE and is a particular boost to our international strategy at the St. Petersburg campus,' said Professor Christopher Gerry, Chair of the Internationalisation Steering Group at HSE St. Petersburg. 'Having the opportunity to engage with one of the world’s leading universities across multiple disciplines at undergraduate, postgraduate and faculty level takes us into new territory and will provide Russian students and staff with fantastic opportunities that they otherwise would have been denied in the current economic climate. This is Erasmus at its very best.' 

The HSE-King’s-Erasmus+ exchange programme will run in the 2016/17 academic year and covers a range of disciplines taught at both universities. Particular focus has been identified in the fields of sociology, Russian and Eurasian studies, history, mathematics and informatics, and management.

The programme will allow up to 30 undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students, as well as academic and professional services staff, to travel from HSE to King’s or from King’s to HSE over the 2016/17 academic year.

From the Higher School of Economics to King’s College London:

• Undergraduate mobility: 6 students, for a total of 32 months (up to 6 months per student)
• Taught postgraduate mobility: 4 students, for a total of 32 months (up to 8 months per student)
• Postgraduate research mobility: 2 students, for a total of 6 months (up to 3 months per student)
• Teaching mobility: 2 academic staff members, for a total of 28 days (up to 2 weeks per staff member)
• Training mobility: 1 professional services staff member, for a total of 14 days

From King’s College London to the Higher School of Economics:

• Undergraduate mobility: 6 students, for a total of 38 months (up to 6 months per student)
• Taught postgraduate mobility: 3 students, for a total of 9 months (up to 3 months per student)
• Postgraduate research mobility: 2 students, for a total of 12 months (up to 6 months per student)
• Teaching mobility: 2 academic staff members, for a total of 28 days (up to 2 weeks per staff member)
• Training mobility: 1 professional services staff member, for a total of 14 day
