The Radio HSE contest has taken place since 2010 and primarily focuses on giving students from regions across Russia an additional chance to enroll in the university. This year, the list of cities where students participating in the competition come from includes 29 ‘newcomers.’ For the first time students from the Baltic States and the CIS also took part in the competition.

The Radio HSE contest is conducted in several phases in five areas: Asian Studies, Political Science, Sociology, Advertising and Law. In the first stage, participants are required to write a creative essay on topics that are announced on a radio programme and published on the project website. The authors of the best works are interviewed by university representatives over the radio. The best of the best are invited to a second and final phase of the ‘Vyshaya Proba’ Interregional Olympiad on social studies and law. Every year, winners of Radio HSE who perform successfully in the final round of ‘Vyshaya Proba’ become students in various faculties of the Higher School of Economics without taking entrance examinations.

Students who were unable to take part in Radio HSE in time still have the opportunity to register for the ‘Vyshaya Proba’ Olympiad before December 8, 2014.
