Tuition Discounts Now Available to Eligible Online Master’s Students

Students from more than 150 countries can now receive tuition fee discounts for HSE's English-taught online Master of Data Science programme conducted entirely on Coursera international elearning platform. Admissions are open until December 6.

Master of Data Science is the first fully online Master's programme offered by HSE University. It has been developed by HSE Faculty of Computer Science in close cooperation with industry experts from Yandex, 1C, JetBrains, and other IT companies.

Ivan Arzhantsev

Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science

The online Master of Data Science programme opens up completely new educational opportunities. This type of studies knows no boundaries, is accessible to people from different countries, and is not subject to many restrictions that often exist in full-time programmes. With all this in mind, it is particularly important to make education accessible to a wide student audience. For many years, HSE University has been offering a variety of tuition fee discounts and scholarships, both for its undergraduate and graduate programmes. Such discounts and scholarships allow HSE University to attract strong applicants. So, introducing tuition fee discounts for our online programme is a natural development of our scholarship system. The discounts take into account the specifics of online education. I am convinced that they will be instrumental in promoting university educational offerings.

The Master of Data Science programme offers three different areas of focus. ‘Data Scientist’ and ‘Machine Learning Engineer’ tracks will suit students interested in pursuing careers in business, while the third area, ‘Researcher in DS’, is geared towards students who would like to build careers in academia.

The programme curriculum consists of 21 courses, which are divided into four blocks: mathematics, programming, future profession, projects. Regardless of which track a student chooses, most of the programme will involve hands-on project work. All courses are taught in English.

The programme is open to students from all over the world. Residents of more than 150 countries are eligible for tuition fee discounts.

Starting in 2020, students who have permanent residency in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are eligible to receive up to 50% off tuition costs. Students from several other countries, such as Turkey, India, China, Columbia, Mexico and many others can receive a discount of 20%. The full list is available on programme website.

A student’s country of residence is considered to be the country they indicated upon registering for a personal account in HSE’s online application system. Once a student receives a tuition discount, it is valid for their entire duration of studies.

You can apply online until December 6. The classes will start in February 2020. The graduates will receive a Master's degree from HSE University
