HSE Team to Take Part in CFA Institute Research Challenge in Prague
For the third consecutive year, an HSE team trained by lecturers from the HSE’s Banking Institute is among the winners of the Russian stage of CFA IRC and will now go on to take part in the regional EMEA championship in Prague.
On March 14 the Russian finals of the international CFA Institute Research Challenge were held at the Moscow Exchange building. The six best student teams from across Russia, selected at the preliminary stage of the competition, participated in the event.
This year an unprecedented number of participants – 44 teams from 33 universities – took part in the championship. All the teams received the same task – to analyze the activity of the Moscow exchange and to provide recommendations for investors. The competition among the participants was tough. The HSE team, selected by the Banking Institute according to the results of the university competitive selection among 4th-year BA students and 1st and 2nd-year MA students, took second place with 92 points, while MSU took first place with 94 points.
According to the competition rules, the top two teams make it through to the regional stage of the competition for Europe, Middle East and Africa that will take place on April 26th-27th in Prague.

On September 11, staff of HSE’s Banking Institute and the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Institute planted trees at the park on Maly Gnezdnikovsky Pereulok, commemorating the five-year anniversary of the start of joint projectsbetween CFA Institute and the HSE, as well as the 10-year anniversary of the creation of CFA’s office in Russia, with which the HSE Banking Institute carries out educational programmes in financial analysis.
