HSE Faculty of Law delivered a course on Jurisprudence for exchange students from the Nice Sophia Antipolis University as part of long-term ties between the universities. This was the first student exchange under the partnership agreement between the two universities. HSE plans to further develop this partnership programme.

HSE students’ team ‘BeeCycle’ have presented one of the best projects at AngelHack Moscow and won the Beeline category.

On June 9-12, 2016, VI Summer School 'Designing Feasible Cross-Cultural Research: Sampling and Procedure' was held outside Moscow. The event was organized by the International Research and Teaching Laboratory for Socio-Cultural Research of the Expert Institute at HSE. The headline teachers at the school were the leading researchers known across the world: Fons van de Vijver (PhD, Professor, Tilburg University) and Klaus Boehnke (PhD, Professor, Jacobs University, Bremen).

On June 9-13, the international conference ‘Computer Science Symposium in Russia 2016’ was held in St. Petersburg as part of the Special Semester on Computational and Proof Complexity.

Dr. Marian Paduch, department head at the Institute of Plasma Physics and Laser Microfusion (IPPLM), Warsaw, Poland, director of the UNESCO International Centre of Dense Magnetised Plasmas, and a leading expert in hot plasma and its diagnostics, visited MIEM.

On June 1, 2016, Prof. William Bianco, Professor of Political Science at Indiana University, Bloomington read a lecture at the School of Political Science on ‘The 2016 American Elections: What (If Anything) Can Political Science Tell Us?’

The MIEM Centre for Fractal Art presented a ‘Fractal architecture’ project by Nadezhda Trubochkina, and she was awarded the diploma of the Moscow Architecture Biennale for presenting new opportunities for using fractal mathematics and IT technologies for architects and interior designers.

The international modules of the master’s programme in Global Business have come to an end, and students have defended their projects, which they worked on for several months, at the University of Bergamo, Italy. Representatives of companies for whom the students prepared their projects as well as the representatives of three partner universities — Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria), the University of Bergamo (Italy)  and HSE (Russia) — all took part in the event.

This summer, the HSE Extreme Sports Club invites HSE students and staff members to go on trips along Karelian rivers and in the Caucasus mountains.

From May 26 – 27, 2016, the European Society for Research in Adult Development 2016 Symposium took place in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Svetlana Strinyuk, Associate Professor at the School of Foreign Languages at HSE Perm, presented a report ‘Identity through Violence Aestheticization: murals in Derry and Belfast’ at the 5th international conference CONTEMPART 2016. The conference was dedicated to issues of urban identity, urban space and contemporary art and took place in Istanbul.

Mark Evlampiev, student of the Master’s programme 'Project Management: Project Analysis, Investments, and Implementation Technologies', measured the level of happiness in the urban environment using data from the social network Instagram in the city of Perm.
