Alexandra Sazhina, Lecturer at the Department of Management, HSE in Perm, took part in an international conference, Beyond the Great Beauty: Rescaling Heritage and Tourism. The event took place at the Rimini campus of the University of Bologna, Italy.

On February 4 – 5, 2016, a conference ‘Market economy and rural worlds in Eastern Europe’ organized by the University of Bordeaux’s Department of Sociology and the Emile Durkheim Centre took place in France.

On January 31st – February 3^rd 2016, the Winter School of the Faculty of Social Sciences was held at the ‘Voronovo’ Learning Centre, HSE. During the event, potential master’s students took part in master classes, business cases and meetings with students and graduates of the faculty’s educational programmes.

The international symposium, held by SERU (Student Experience in the Research University) International Consortium on January 18, was sponsored by the University of California, Berkeley, the HSE Institute of Education, and Tongji University, which hosted the event. SERU-International Managing Director and IoE leading researcher Igor Chirikov took part in the event, which united over 50 representatives of universities in China, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Russia and the United States.

Natalia Sarana, doctoral student of the School of Philology, told us about her internship at the University of Cambridge.

Henry Penikas, Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Economics, has been chosen to become a member of PRMIA Steering Committee.

HSE lecturers and research fellows who plan to teach open optional courses and/or elective (MAGOLEGO) courses during the 2016/2017 academic year can submit applications until February 15.

One fifth of all disciplines at HSE are taught in English. The classes are taught both by HSE lecturers and visiting international professors. For several years now, the curriculums have been published in Russian and English. Starting this year, exchange students can create their individual timetable with the help of online tool. For full-degree students, the timetable is now also available in English.

Felix Iturriaga, Leading Research Fellow at the International Laboratory of the Intangible-driven Economy, Professor at the University of Valladolid, Spain, is currently visiting HSE Perm.

Students of the HSE campus in Perm met with Andrey Khusid, HSE graduate in Management and master’s graduate in Public and Municipal Administration, and founder of several successful IT projects. He spoke about how to build a career, where ideas come from, and what personal qualities lead to success.

January 17 - 23, 2016, Alexander Lukin, Head of the School of International Affairs, spoke at some universities and influential research centres in Delhi on an academic trip to India.

New and unconventional sports are gaining popularity among students at HSE St. Petersburg. Many students play capoeira, airsoft, and Frisbee at a professional level. Alina Ponomareva reports about Frisbee at HSE.
