The Contribution to Science and Education Award, established by the HSE, recognises outstanding contributions to academic development and international academic cooperation.

On April 12, 2018 the round table "Using the OECD standards and best practices in Urban and Housing Policy" took place at the Higher School of Economics. The event was conducted jointly with DOM.RF Russia Housing and Urban Development Corporation in the framework of the section S "Science and Innovation" of the XIX HSE International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development. Participants discussed a wide range of issues, in particular the potential of green growth and sustainable urban development.

The Jury of the Russian National Award in Applied Economics found an article by ICSID research fellow Denis Ivanov particularly noteworthy. The paper is titled "Human Capital and Knowledge-Intensive Industries Location: Evidence from Soviet Legacy in Russia".

The development of a national data management system, along with its architecture and ontology, is one of the key issues for a future cabinet, believes Maxim Akimov, First Deputy of the Chief of the Government Staff of the Russian Federation. A discussion at a panel session on data in the digital era at the XIX April International Academic Conference at HSE looked into the key challenges in regards to Russian statistics and possible responses to them.

On 11 April 2018 at the plenary session "Technological future of the Russian economy" within the framework of the XIX April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development the report "Technological Future of the Russian Economy" was presented by Leonid Gokhberg, First Vice Rector and ISSEK Director.

On April, 10th, the first day of the XIXth April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development, Andrey Scherbak (HSE) and Alexey Bessudnov (University of Exeter) gave a special lecture called “Ethnic Hierarchy in the Russian Labour Market”. It was held within the framework of the 8th LCSR International workshop “Quantitative Research of Social Changes Across the World”.

On April 10th Christian Welzel gave a lecture on “Rethinking Measurement In-Equivalence: Or Why We Should Forget about MGCFA” at the 8th LCSR International Workshop. Read more about this in the publication.

On April 10, Leonid Gokhberg, First Vice Rector of HSE and Director of the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge, presented a report — ‘Advanced Model of State Statistics in the Digital Era’ during panel session 'National System of Data Management: Interaction between Society, Business and State' at the XIX April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.

ICSID team members took part in the 76th annual Midwest Political Science Association Conference that was held in Chicago on April 5-8, 2018.

LSCR Chief Research Fellow Hanspeter Kriesi will give a couple of introductory lectures at HSE on April, 16th and 18th.
