Course Syllabus

Abstract

The purpose of the seminar is to individually help students with the aim of developing their careers, identifying points of their professional growth. The work at the seminar will help determine research interests, navigate the labor market in the field of education and assessment. The focus of the first year of the seminar will be on the networking strategies and learning opportunities at HSE.

Learning Objectives

• Integrating multidisciplinary topics into a broader context
• Career development for students
• Learning new networking strategies

Expected Learning Outcomes

• Students are able to define their short-term and long terms goals.
• Students evaluate the results of their efforts and develop or amend their plans according to the results of their audit.
• Students give a clear and engaging flash-talk.
• Students know about a wide range of opportunities provided by HSE
• Students work in a group planning and organising a scientific event.

Course Contents

• Introduction. HSE opportunities.
• Goal setting. Flash-talk technologies.
• Organising a scientific event step by step.
• Managing one's learning and career trajectories.

Assessment Elements

• Organise an event
  Organise an event with students from other master program / graduate student / HSE staff / any interesting person related to the field
• Essay - reflection on learning experience
• Essay - reflection and plans for the second year
• Sharing experiences with new students
• Flash talk

Interim Assessment

• 2023/2024 4th module
  0.5 * Essay - reflection and plans for the second year + 0.2 * Flash talk + 0.3 * Organise an event
• 2024/2025 4th module
  0.7 * Essay - reflection on learning experience + 0.3 * Sharing experiences with new students
