The International Center of Decision Choice and Analysis (the DeCAn center) was established in 2009 with most of its work focused on the theory of individual, social and multicriterial choice, mathematical modelling and empirical analysis of decision-making in various economic and political institutions, game-theoretic models and methods in economics and political theory, and data analysis (methods of clustering, pattern recognition, etc.).

The HSE International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis studies a wide range of methods for analysing decision-making and possible scenarios for the development of natural, socio-economic, and political phenomena using various mathematical models. The application of advanced mathematical methods to forecasting helps to prevent negative outcomes and avoid erroneous decisions. The HSE News Service spoke to the centre’s director, Prof. Fuad Aleskerov, about its work.
The Society for Social Choice and Welfare (SSCW) has granted the Young Scholar Paper Award to Angelina Iudina, doctoral student and lecturer at the Department of Mathematics of the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences and Junior Research Fellow at the HSE International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis. The scientists highlighted her article devoted to solving the problem of choosing the best alternatives based on the results of pairwise comparisons.
Eric Maskin, an American economist and recipient of the 2007 Nobel Prize in Economics, gave a talk at HSE University in which he shared his views on the shortcomings of the proportional representation system and outlined his proposals for reform.

HSE University is now accepting proposals to present academic reports at the XXVI April International Academic Conference named after Evgeny Yasin. Applications can be submitted until December 16, 2025. The conference events will take place mainly on-site in Moscow from April 14 to 17, 2026.
On October 8 (Wednesday), 2025, a joint meeting of the All-Moscow Seminars "Mathematical Methods of Decision Analysis in Economics, Business, and Politics" and "Expert Assessments and Data Analysis" was held at the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
