‘Football Brings People Together’: Faculty of Social Science Took Second Place at the First HSE Football Tournament among Foreign Students

The Higher School of Economics organized its first ever-mini football tournament for international students. The exciting competition took place on Sunday 28th May. The event which engaged spectators with excitement and curiosity had 6 teams at the “Energia” Stadium. Thanks to active participation of students Populatin and Development programme, Faculty of Social Science Took Second Place at the First HSE Football Tournament among Foreign Students 

The teams included Preparatory year, Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, Graduate School of Business, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Economic Sciences and Faculty of Computer Science. The mini football tournament was a grand manner to develop harmony and healthy sporting environment among international students and faculties. The competition was presided over officials from HSE and attended by HSE students and the local community. This saw the distribution of branded HSE souvenirs to active fans. A total of 30 matches were played during the tournament.

All the teams participated with great enthusiasm mixed with equal strength, excellent skills and performance.
After a series of training sessions, the team's coach , a first-year student of the “Population and Development” Ebenezer Kwesi Armah-Ansah, selected the best 11 to participate in the tournament. The final application of the team included three students from the “Population and Development” program, namely, Ransford Adokoh, Ismaila Abubakar Gariba and Oluwatosin Salvation Olanipekun. Team Faculty of Social Science progressed to the grand final after beating stiff competitions from Faculties of World Economy and International Affairs; Graduate School of Business, Economic Sciences and Computer Science. The final match was played between team Faculty of Social Sciences and team Preparatory year. The match astonished the whole crowd with its beautiful moments throughout the game.  At the end of heated full time, team Faculty of Social Sciences was declared as the 1st runner after losing by 1-0.The Best Player of the Tournament was Francis Arkoh Amissah of team Faculty of Social Science, the players from which were also awarded a cup and medals.

This day became unforgettable in the life of students, it gave a lot of positive emotions and new friends. The team devotedly performed their duties with excellence. Congratulations to the team of Faculty of Social Sciences and students of the “Population and Development” program on winning silver medals!
