‘One Year of Combined-Track Studies Expands Students’ Research Horizons’
HSE University continues to develop its new study format for students embarking on a research career: the Combined Master's-PhD track. This year, there will be 75 places for Master’s students on the track—two thirds more than last year. HSE Vice Rector Sergey Roshchin talks about the appeal of the combined-track option, how to enrol, and the achievements of last year’s applicants.

European Forum Alpbach 2020
From the “Reception” to the Forum Alpbach Network (FAN) Booth in the “Lounge” on Hopin, a student of the Population and Development programme, Goodnews Israel Oshiogbele, had a great maiden experience at the European Forum Alpbach (EFA) 2020 which held virtually from August 23rd to September 3rd, 2020.

Open lecture by a professor of University of Dhaka (Bangladesh)
On April 1st for the students of programme ‘Population and Development’ it was organized an open lecture ‘Surviving at the Edges: Adaptation to Climate Change and Natural Disasters in Bangladesh ‘ by prof. Hasan Shafie.

International Autumn School devoted to “Demographic methods in public health research”
From September 24 to October 5, 2018, two of our students, Sally Sonia Simmons and Vitalie Stirba, received invitations to attend the International Autumn School devoted to “Demographic methods in public health research”.
It was held in Pushkin, suburb of St. Petersburg, Russia. Students share their experience.

Oxfam Workshop on Violence against Women
On October 3rd and 4th Zorica Skakun, a gender coordinator for Oxfam GB in Yemen who provides support and leadership to ensure women's rights, presented two workshops on various aspects of violence against women for students of the programme "Population and Development".
Getting Familiar with UN Activities in Russia and Worldwide.
On May 24th students of the programme "Population and Development" met Dr. Melita Vujnovic, World Health Organization Representative in Russia, who gave a talk on the agency’s perspectives and ambitious plans for the nearest future. She kindly answered all the questions, encouraged to get familiar with WHO latest reports, and recommend to apply for internships.

SDG International Youth Forum 2018
Taking part in discussion platform students, postgraduate students, high-school students present positions on discussing global problems of the countries chosen. They make everybody notice these problems and suggest new ways of solving them. Participants of the forum try play roles of heads of delegations, ambassadors, ministers of foreign affairs or representatives of different international organisations. Bamidele Ola, a second-year student of the master's programme ‘Population and Development’, participated in the SDG International Youth Forum 2018 which was held at MGIMO University, on March 30-31. He is sharing his reflections on the forum.

9th Demographic Conference of “Young Demographers”
The Department of Demography and Geodemography and the Geographical Institute (Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Science) organises annual conference for early career researchers and postgraduate students. This year’s conference was the 9th and was as traditionally held in Prague (Albertov, 6 Prague2) at the faculty of science on 16th and 17th February, 2018. Kofi Aduo-Adjei, the second-year student of Population and Development programme, shares his experience as a participant in this conference.

HSE Winter School 2018
Winter school 2018 of Faculty of Social Sciences was held at the ‘Voronovo’ Learning Centre from January 22 to January 26, 2018. Representatives of the “Population and Development” held a special session dedicated to the sustainable development.

Russia and the World: Values and Vurtues
On January 16, our students have participated in Гайдаровский форум (Gaidar Forum) - an annual event that discusses major trends in social-and-economic and political development.
This year the Forum was devoted to the topic "Russia and the World: Values and Vurtues".
