HSE Design Students Take Part in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for the Second Time
Students from the HSE School of Design specializing in fashion presented their new collection H.A.R.D. 2.0 – a mix of works styled in a single concept. For a year HSE students have been experimenting with forms and techniques, deconstructing and creating new forms from old ones.
The fashion department at the HSE School of Design, which opened in 2014, uses teaching methods that are built on the principles of the world’s leading design schools. Through training based on specially developed original programmes, students learn to think creatively and conceptually, become immersed in a global context, and obtain a wide range of knowledge including everything from creating collections to retail, and from styling and fashion shots to marketing. In the new academic year, the School of Design will enrol students in both undergraduate and Master’s programmes in fashion.
Packaging of the World, a popular online resource for designers and marketing professions, has published a packaging design for Smilex12+ toothpaste developed by Anna Kosheleva, a third year student at HSE’s Art and Design School. Her work was overseen by Alexandra Kuznetsova, the school’s Academic Supervisor of Bachelor's programme in Design.
Ksenia Ermakova, Sofya Paymanova, and Natalia Chernobrova, third- and fourth-year students of the HSE School of Design, have presented their vision of VDNH’s reconstruction as part of the Russian Pavilion at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale.
At this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, students from the HSE School of Design debuted their latest collection, which included diverse colour schemes, prints, and fabrics that all reflected the web-punk aesthetic known for its different shapes and flat design.

HSE Design Lab have created a branding construction kit to modernise design in schools. Even non-specialists can use it to create a trademark style which could help promote their school more successfully. The Lab presented their project at the biggest international education conference in Moscow in September 2015, EdCrunch.
On June 16, the courtyard of the Art and Design School (HSE Faculty of Communications, Media and Design) was turned into a true podium with a fashion show taking place under the Black Box open sky. Thirteen original costume models were prepared by second-year students of the school as part of their final project defence.
