Daniil Kostyshin, a fourth-year student of the ‘Fashion Design’ track in the HSE Art and Design School at HSE University, presented a collection of his own design at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. His collection, ‘21’, was inspired by old family photos of his childhood during the early 2000s.
Over the past year our students and graduates of the Master’s Programme ‘Fashion’ participated in a diverse array of projects. The emerging designers put on two of their own fashion shows at Rizhsky Station as part of Arts Night 2018 as well as the large festival Telling Stories, participated in exhibitions, collaborated with prominent brand names, and opened a joint showroom in the Klebozavod (Bread Factory) space.
The HSE ART AND DESIGN Festival, which was held at the Museum of Moscow, served as the final exam for students of HSE’s School of Art and Design. On the final day of the festival, undergraduate and graduate students of the ‘Fashion’ programme presented more than a hundred of pieces of their own design in a fashion show. On November 18, the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art will host Recycle Day for the first time ever. Organised in cooperation with Japanese clothing brand UNIQLO and the HSE School of Design, this event is devoted to sustainable development and textile recycling.
A project by Zlata Sapko and Marina Aleksashina, third-year students of the programme in Fashion, won a competition organized by Hermès and the HSE School of Art and Design. The presentation of the project took place in GUM.
The School of Design’s fashion team just became stronger thanks to its newest designer Leonid Alexeev. Leonid is a unique professional who is not only the creator of a brand that offers both a men’s and women’s collection, nor is he just the mastermind behind several lines of clothing made by well known Russian companies; Leonid has also headed the design bureau at the Ministry of Defence, designed costumes for various Moscow theatres, and also launched a clothing line for football fans. Beginning this academic year, Leonid will teach both bachelor’s and master’s students at the HSE School of Design. This collection by the HSE Art and Design School students resulted from a mutual effort by designers from the undergraduate and master’s courses. The theme of the collection is ‘Klub Zavtra’ – ‘Tomorrow Club’. Students worked as designers, models and organizers in the show.
Students from the HSE School of Design specializing in fashion presented their new collection H.A.R.D. 2.0 – a mix of works styled in a single concept. For a year HSE students have been experimenting with forms and techniques, deconstructing and creating new forms from old ones.
At this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, students from the HSE School of Design debuted their latest collection, which included diverse colour schemes, prints, and fabrics that all reflected the web-punk aesthetic known for its different shapes and flat design.
