On September 16, HSE University hosted a meeting with a delegation from the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS). The parties discussed prospects for academic cooperation and exchanged ideas for joint research initiatives.

On September 19, the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs held a meeting with the delegation of Zhejiang University of International Studies, China.

Alexander Lukin gave a lecture on the topic “Modern international order and the causes of regional conflicts” to teachers and students of the Institute of Politics and International Relations of Lanzhou University, and also held negotiations on cooperation with various departments of the university.

Alexander Lukin spoke and conducted a seminar for teachers and students of the Defense Science and Technology University of the People's Liberation Army of China. The lecture was devoted to the topic “The structure of the modern world order and the causes of modern international conflicts.”

Alexander Lukin took part in the conference and celebrations dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the outstanding Chinese thinker and public figure of the 20th century Liang Shuming, organized by the Qufu Normal University and the Society for the Study of Confucius of Shandong Province.

Professor Alexander Lukin gave a lecture on the topic “Russian Sinology and the influence of Russian culture in China” at the Faculty of Russian Language, School of Foreign Languages, Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, China).

On December 1, 2023, the head of the Department of International Relations, Head of the International Laboratory for Research on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism, Professor Alexander Lukin, gave a public lecture on the topic “Chinese-Russian relations: continuity and change” at the Baptist University of Hong Kong.

On November 22, 2023 was hold the defense of dissertation of Qiuyu GaoYan  on the topic “Political Factors of Chinese Outbound Foreign Direct Investment (1991-2017)”

On October 19, Nezavisimaya Gazeta published an article by Alexander Lukin, head of the Department of International Relations and head of the International Laboratory of World Order Studies and the New Regionalism, about the visit of V.V. Putin to China.

On October 18, Alexander Lukin, head of the Department of International Relations and head of the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism, commented on the “One Belt, One Road” forum in the “Day” program on RBC.

On October 3, 2023, the head of the department of international relations, head of the International Laboratory for Research on World Order and New Regionalism, Professor Alexander Lukin, met with the national coordinator for SCO affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mehrdad Kiaei.

In an episode of the “Big Game” program, Alexander Lukin commented on the reasons for the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, China’s plans to expand interaction with the Russian Federation, as well as the possibilities and limitations to cooperation with China for Russia in the modern context.

Alexander Lukin took part in the international conference “Strategy-20 plus (S20+) for 2023. How G20 can manage conflicts and promote global development.”

On August 28, 2023, Head of the Department of International Relations, Head of the International Laboratory for Research on World Order and New Regionalism, Professor Alexander Lukin delivered a report at the 11th meeting of the Forum of Research Centers of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

On December 1, 2022, School of Regional Studies Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University held the session "China in the Age of Xi Jinping" within the framework of the 4th International Conference “The world majority in the contemporary international realities: from fragmentation to new institutionalization”.

On October 27, 2022, Professor A.V. Lukin, head of the Department of International Relations and head of the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, published a new article in the Nezavisimaya Gazeta.

From 12–16 October 2022, the ‘Balkan Dialogue’ event took place at the Russian House in Belgrade and the Vojvodina Archives in Novi Sad, Serbia. Balkan Dialogue is an international programme organised annually by the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund. Students and professors from HSE University and other Russian universities were among the participants of the programme. The academic supervisor of the event was Professor Ekaterina Entina, Director of the Mediterranean Studies Centre at the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs.

Today, Russia is striving to develop its relationships with the countries of East and South Asia and the Middle East. Politicians, diplomats, and businesspeople need to be aware of the specifics of Eastern states, their traditions and culture. To develop a new level of relations, it is important to provide high-quality education for Asian studies specialists. This was discussed at the First International Academic Conference ‘Oriental Civilisations: A View from the 21st Century’ hosted by HSE University. The Conference was attended by scientists from Russia, China, Turkey, Japan, Iran, and other countries.

On October 14, 2022, Professor A.V. Lukin, head of the Department of International Relations and head of the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and New Regionalism at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, gave an interview to Business Online.

The Head of the Department of International Relations and Head of International Laboratory on World Order Studies and New Regionalism Professor A.V. Lukin and Associate Professor of the Department I.A. Safranchuk took part in the scientific conference “Russia and ASEAN in the Asia-Pacific Region: Interaction, Regional Processes and Global Context”, held at MGIMO during the XIV Congress of the Russian Association of International Studies (RAMI).

The Head of the Department of International Relations and Head of the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism Professor Alexander Lukin took part in the events of the annual scientific and educational program “Balkan Dialogue - 2022” organized by the Gorchakov Foundation for the Support of Public Diplomacy. On October 13, 2022, he spoke in Belgrade in the section “New Integration Models - Opportunities for the Balkans” about the development and possibilities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

On September 29, 2022, Professor Alexander Lukin, Head of the Department of International Relations, Head of the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, gave an interview to Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

On September 29, the Head of the International Relations Department, Head of the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism A.V. Lukin participated in the international conference "Samarkand SCO Summit: contribution to regional and international security, sustainable development" which took place online.

China and the Chinese world, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Arab countries, Iran, Turkey, Central Asia and Africa are gaining new significance in Russia’s foreign policy. However, we do not know enough about the Eastern countries. It is necessary to change the priorities in education, starting from grammar school. Prospects for the development of domestic Oriental studies in the context of the new stage in the development of the system of international relations were discussed at a round table at HSE University.

Professor Alexander Lukin has published a chapter “Russia and the Changes of World Order” as part of the book: Šrāders Sandis, Terry Spencer (eds.), A Restless Embrace of the Past? The Conference on Russia Papers 2022 (Tartu: University of Tartu Press, 2022).

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, the HSE Bulgarian Club together with the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism and under the aegis of the Department of International Relations of the National Research University Higher School of Economics held a seminar on the topic “Towards a New European Energy and Climate Strategy: The European Green Deal as the Key Driver Forward”.

On Thursday, February 24, 2022, the HSE Bulgarian Club together with the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism and under the aegis of the Department of International Relations of the National Research University Higher School of Economics held a seminar on the topic “Ukraine: is the Pandora's Box Open in Europe?”

On February 11, Head of the Department of International Relations A.V. Lukin held an online meeting with Ambassador of Norway R. Resaland.

On Thursday, January 27, 2022, the HSE Bulgarian Club and the HSE Middle East Club together with the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism and under the aegis of the Department of International Relations of the National Research University Higher School of Economics held a seminar in the format of a discussion on the topic “EU and the Arab World: Anxious Neighbors or Natural Partners?”

On Wednesday, 15 December 2021, The Department of International Relations and International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism of National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University) heldthe thirtieth session of Eurasian Online Seminarin the form of discussion panel. The topic for discussion was the presentation of the Special Issue of the Russian Politics journal (Volume 6 (2021): Issue 4 (Oct 2021) on Russian Foreign Policy, edited by Iain Ferguson, Andrej Krickovic, Alexander Lukin and Richard Sakwa.

On Wednesday, October 27, 2021, the Department of International Relations and International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism of the National Research University Higher School of Economics held the twenty-eight session of Eurasian Online Seminar. The seminar was held in the form of discussion panel. The topic for discussion was “The Politization of the Covid 19 Pandemic: Views from various Countries and Regions”.

Professor of the University of Western Australia Mark Beeson delivered a series of open lectures at the Faculty of World Economy and World Politics in the framework of the HSE Visiting Scholar Visits Support Programme and with the participation of the International Laboratory of World Order Studies and New Regionalism.

The Russian Science Foundation has announced winners of its latest grant competition to support basic scientific research and exploratory scientific research conducted by research teams.

January 17 - 23, 2016, Alexander Lukin, Head of the School of International Affairs, spoke at some universities and influential research centres in Delhi on an academic trip to India.

HSE has held the 5th International Relations Russia-China Summer School 'Eurasia 2020: Prospects for cooperation.' The school has been held since 2011 by the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs jointly with the East China Normal University (Shanghai, China). This year it was held with support from the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund. This is the only summer school of this kind held in Russia.

Alexander Lukin, Head of the School of International Affairs took part in the International Symposium on ‘BRICS-II: Institutionalization & Macau’, which took place on May 6-7 in Macau, Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
