On September 27, Yuri Kazakov made a presentation "Dynamic Epistemic Approaches to Solving the Surprise Exam Paradox" at the workshop "From the Logical Point of View".

Researchers from HSE University have identified a connection between attachment to pets and attitudes toward nature and other people. The study found that the more joy people derive from interacting with their pets, the more they want to help others. However, love for animals is not always associated with concern for nature. The findings were published in the Social Psychology and Society journal.

This autumn, 55 early-career researchers will start working at HSE University's campuses in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, and Perm. All of them have undergone a rigorous selection process and aim to make significant progress in both science and personal development during their participation in the Russian Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme. This year, in addition to PhDs who are Russian citizens, HSE University welcomes their colleagues from Poland, Kazakhstan, and India who have earned their academic degrees from Russian universities. On September 17-18, orientation events were held for them at HSE University.

The HSE University International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration organized an international online conference titled "Digital Governance and Public Administration: Interdisciplinary Insights from Research". Evgeny Styrin, the Head of the laboratory, served as moderator, and the presentations generated great interest among attendees.

On September 25, 2024, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation hosted a round table discussion on "Invasive and non-invasive neurotechnologies: new opportunities for the development of the national economy and ensuring technological sovereignty".

The software package developed by the laboratory staff members was officially registered as a computer program for the first time.

On September 20, 2024, a research on strategic decisions of teams in cyber sports matches was presented at the IDLab workshop. The paper was introduced by Egor Ivanov, an IDLab research assistant, and coauthored by Maria Molodchik, Petr Parshakov, and Evgenia Shenkman. They studied how professional cybersports teams make decisions when choosing which cards to exclude from the game and which to select.

Evgeny Styrin, Head of the International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration at the HSE University attended the International Forum held in Wuhan, Hubei, China, at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in late July. 

The paper presents a new method for analyzing EEG and MEG data — ReDisCA. This method allows to estimate the spatio-temporal components in EEG or MEG responses that correspond to a given representation difference matrix (RDM).

An article "Are Mathematicians, Physicists and Biologists Irrational? Intransitivity Studies vs. the Transitivity Axiom" by Alexander Poddyakov has been published in the journal "Human Arenas".
