Dr Gerwin Schalk is a professor at Fudan University in Shanghai and a partner of the HSE Centre for Language and Brain within the framework of the strategic project 'Human Brain Resilience.' Dr Schalk is known as the creator of BCI2000, a non-commercial general-purpose brain-computer interface system. In this interview, he discusses modern neural interfaces, methods for post-stroke rehabilitation, a novel approach to neurosurgery, and shares his vision for the future of neurotechnology.

A team of researchers, with the participation of physicists from HSE University, replicated the 1969 experiment on superconductivity and its properties. The scientists induced superconductivity by deliberately deteriorating the interfaces between the layers of superconductors and ferromagnets in the system, resulting in better performance of spin valves compared to the classical version, where the interfaces between the layers are ideal. This approach could lead to the development of more efficient devices for data storage and computing. The study findings have been published in the Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology.

On December 19, 2024, at the meeting of the Center for Bioelectric Interfaces in a mixed format, a preliminary discussion of the candidate's dissertation of Daria Kleeva on the topic:: "Development of algorithmic solutions based on non-invasive neuroimaging tools for precision medicine and cognitive monitoring".

Junior Researcher at the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy at HSE Perm (IDLab), Sofia Paklina, successfully defended her PhD dissertation titled "Intangible Resources as a Strategic Factor in the Digital Transformation of Companies." The defense took place before the Dissertation Council on Economics at HSE. The scientific supervisor was Elena Shakina, Candidate of Economic Sciences and Senior Researcher at IDLab.

At the recent IDLab seminar, Daria Semenova, a research assistant at IDLab, presented an abstract of her dissertation on the topic: "Neuroeconomic Factors of Consumers' Willingness to Pay for Hedonic Products"

At a seminar held on December 12, 2024, P.M.Shilov, Candidate of Biological Sciences, M.Sc., V.V.Dokuchaev Soil Institute, spoke about the problems of development and promising growth points in soil geophysics.
