The goal of this educational website is to make the field of statistics more accessible through interactive visualizations. Till date there is a collection of 18 interactive web visualizations divided into 6 chapters, each of which present a bite-sized concept from the introductory statistics curriculum.

The aim of the Business Analytics and Big Data Systems programme at HSE University is to train specialists in big data technologies, implementation of analytical solutions and managing companies’ data. Statistics serves as a foundation while dealing with data and its analysis. There are certain core concepts which need to be thoroughly understood before jumping into advanced algorithms. Some core statistical concepts like such as regression, probability, distributions, conditional probability and Bayesian theorem have to be understood clearly.

 

It is important to understand the concepts, either by going through standard books or well-known websites, before implementing them and this is where Seeing Theory can be a useful resource for the students. By creating the visual explanations, Seeing Theory has been able to help students for whom mathematical notations are all but impenetrable. Students are able to engage with the content and explore the concepts easily by using the interactive visualizations.

 

Although there are some other helpful educational visualizations on the web, there is no other website that presents a completely visual program in probability and statistics that is as integrated and as comprehensive as Seeing Theory.
