Assessment Elements

Assessment Elements

  • non-blocking Written tests
Written tests are conducted during the course of a semester after every finished block of lessons on a particular topic. They include sentences and texts for translation from Russian into Vietnamese using vocabulary and grammar learned in the unit.
  • non-blocking Classwork for Grammar and Reading
Classwork for Grammar and Reading is calculated as the average of grades awarded for various assessment activities conducted in class during the course of semester: vocabulary quizzes, grammar quizzes, text summary, text translations etc. The teacher of the course has a right to increase the grade for classwork by 1 point to motivate hard-working and diligent students. At the same time, the teacher can decrease the grade for classwork by 1 point for missing the lessons and for not preparing homework assignments thoroughly.
  • non-blocking Classwork for Speaking and Writing
Classwork for Speaking and Writing is calculated as the average of grade for presence and participation and grades awarded for various assessment activities conducted in class or given as homework during the course of semester: role plays, dialogue enactment, written assignments etc. The teacher of the course has a right to increase the grade for classwork by 1 point to motivate hard-working and diligent students. At the same time, the teacher can decrease the grade for classwork by 1 point for missing the lessons and for not turning in homework assignments in time. If a student misses a speaking assessment activity due to a justifiable excuse (such as absence due to health reasons supported with a doctor’s note), they do not get any grade for the activity. In case of absence due to an unjustifiable reason, the speaking activity will be graded with 0 points.
  • non-blocking Classwork for Listening
