From October 19 to 27, 2025, Lucas Adrián García, a second-year student of the Master’s Programme in Science, Technology and Innovation Management and Policy at HSE University and a Research Assistant at the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) took part in the Second Young Scholar Workshop and the Global Youth Development and Cultural Exchange Program held in three cities of China.

Dr. Irek Suleymanov on his new course "Bridging Worlds: An Introduction to Science Diplomacy"
Dr. Irek Suleymanov joined the Department of Educational Programs at the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) in 2024, introducing an innovative course on science diplomacy. The new academic year was marked by a new seminar series organized by Dr. Suleymanov in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair in Science Diplomacy and Heritage at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Titled "The Dynamics of Science Diplomacy: Bridging Pragmatism and Idealism" this series of seminars is aimed at enabling students to realize their scientific ambitions.

A new Collective Working Paper titled “Being Innovative or Being on the Safe Side – Managing the Risk of Failure” has just been published as part of HSE University’s Basic Research Program – Science, Technology and Innovation series.

'It is a unique opportunity to engage in an interdisciplinary academic experience'
The Double Degree Master’s programmes agreement between HSE University (the Master’s Programme in Science, Technology and Innovation Management and Policy of the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge) and State University of Campinas (the Master’s Programme in Business Administration of the School of Applied Sciences) was signed in February 2024. For master’s courses at University of Campinas, HSE University students can choose one or two semester(s) among the two years of study planned for the conclusion of the course, besides the first semester of their first year, which must be spent at HSE University.
This year, the very first three students from HSE University have traveled to Brazil to participate in the Programme. Below is the story of Carhuallanqui Parian Boris Senin, the second-year Master’s student from Peru.

‘From the Day I Arrived, I Felt That Moscow Is the Place to Be’
Ikenna Mbata, from Owerri, Nigeria, is a student of the Master’s in Science, Technology and Innovation Management and Policy at ISSEK in Moscow. As part of a series of articles in which HSE students reflect over the past year and look to the future, Ikenna told the HSE News Service about the admissions process that led to him winning a full-tuition scholarship, how his courses are relevant to current events, and why learning Russian is not for the faint-hearted.

Alumni Success Stories: Anna Mun
In October the competition results for AI solutions in HSE graduation projects have been announced: with five graduates as the winners, and three being granted laureate titles. Experts were evaluating the level and complexity of the tasks addressed, the appropriateness of the chosen tools for the set goal, the clarity and completeness of the presentation, the correctness of citations, and the ethical use of AI.
Anna Mun, graduate of the Master's program "Science, Technology and Innovation Management and Policy", became a laureate of the competition.

‘Be Prepared to Do Your Best Because Your Resilience Will Be Tested’
Maryann Asemota, from Nigeria, graduate of the Master’s in Science, Technology, and Innovation Management, now works as researcher at the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK). In an interview with the HSE News Service, she shared her experience of working at HSE University, her future plans, and gave some advice on pursuing a career in academia.
