HSE Team Wins Russian Stage of CFA Institute Research Challenge 2014-2015
The final local stage of the annual student financial analysis competition CFA Institute Research Challenge 2014-2015 took place at Moscow Exchange on March 10. Four teams competed in the Russian finals: MSU, HSE, NES and the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
CFA Institute is an international organization that brings together tens of thousands of financial specialists across the world. Teams comprised of BA and MA students studying economics and finance from hundreds of the world’s leading universities compete in the annual CFA Institute Research Challenge.
The students have to prepare research and analysis of a particular company and assess its value. This year, the Russian finalists looked at the company Tinkoff Credit Systems.
Representatives of the company under scrutiny (TCS), members of the CFA Association, and students from the four universities that made the finals attended the event, which was organized by the CFA Institute and the CFA Association (Russia) with support from the Moscow Exchange,
This year HSE’s team won, and will go on to represent Russia at the regional stage in the CFA Institute Research Challenge 2014-2015 for countries of Europe, the Middle East and Africa – which will take place in Amsterdam in April 2015.
The great volume of interest among HSE students in taking part in CFA IRC 2014-2015 meant that the Banking Institute could select the best of the best, and prepare to field a strong team in the competition. The team comprised Anastasia and Anna Tikhonova, Ksenia Kushner, Suren Avanyan, who are all students at the International College of Economics and Finance.
In 2013, HSE won bronze in the Russian stage of the CFA Institute Research Challenge, and in 2014 it won silver.
Banking Institute teacher Olga Zagvozdkina, Vice President of the Investment Banking Department at Renaissance Capital coached the team.

FIFA President Awarded HSE Sports Management Graduates
