The competition is open to HSE University research units planning to conduct joint projects with academic institutions, research organisations and state academic centres of the Russian Federation.

The competition aims to promote Russian research collaborations, increase the effectiveness of cooperation in research and education, and support joint research projects implemented by HSE University research institutions together with their colleagues from other Russian regions (except Moscow, St Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, and Perm).

While implementing a ‘mirror project’, HSE University and its partner organisation combine their research resources, providing each other with access to equipment and data, exchanging methods and scientific results, conducting training seminars, and organising staff internships. Research is carried out by a joint project team with a particular focus on involving young researchers, students and doctoral students.

The application period is open until May 17.

In June, the applicants will present their projects at a meeting of the competition committee.

The results will be announced by June 26.

The list of winners will be posted on June 29.

Each winning project will be allocated up to four million roubles in funding annually, provided that the partner allocates funding on a parity basis. The project implementation period will be three years, after which experts will assess projects’ effectiveness in terms of achieving approved indicators and fulfilling project research plans. Projects may be extended based on the results of expert assessment.

Marina Litvintseva, Director for Advanced Research

Currently, HSE University is implementing 21 Mirror Laboratories research projects in partnership with 18 regional universities. The geography of partner organisations and the range of research agendas demonstrate the high level of interest in scientific cooperation both at Russian universities and research centres, and within HSE University.

The development of Russian scientific cooperation is an integral part of our university development strategy. With the help of such an effective tool as mirror laboratories, HSE University, together with other Russian universities and research centres, contributes to the formation of new generations of academic staff in Russia.

Applications are accepted via e-form. For more information about the application requirements, please see the webpage (in Russian).
