of people who take part in HSE’s English-language courses on Coursera are residents of the U.S.

Courses taught in English by HSE instructors are also popular in India (9%) and Russia (7%). The remaining 59% come from the EU, CIS and Baltic States, Canada, Brazil and others. In total, HSE course participants come from over 130 countries.

These data were obtained during surveys of participants in HSE courses on Coursera, which were conducted in 2014 by HSE’s Centre for Institutional Research.

HSE Marks 5th Year of Teaching on Coursera

On February 24, 2014, HSE launched its first course on the Coursera online education platform. Along with St. Petersburg State University and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, HSE was one of the first Russian universities to host a course on the platform. Now HSE ranks among the top ten universities with the highest number of courses available on the platform, offering 91 courses which have garnered 1.6 million subscriptions.

Data Science for Everyone: HSE on Coursera

Global online platform Coursera has launched the Data Science Academy project - a guide to the world of data science with a selection of the best online courses, specializations, and online master's programmes from world leading companies and universities. The English online course ‘Advanced Machine Learning’, developed by HSE in cooperation with Yandex is among the Academy's courses.

Coursera Offers New Courses by HSE Lecturers

HSE Launches Two New Specializations in Computer Science on Coursera

‘Introduction to Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science’ and ‘Advanced Machine Learning’ are English-language specializations, both created with the support of the top Russian IT firm Yandex, while the specialization ‘Introduction to Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science’ was developed with the involvement of the University of California at San Diego.

Designing Interaction with Mobile Devices: New HSE Course Now Available on Coursera

A new English-taught course offered by the HSE Faculty of Computer Science kicks off on Coursera on July 17, 2017: Mobile Interaction Design: How to Design Usable Mobile Products and Services. Its author is Pavel Manakhov, Associate Professor at the HSE School of Software Engineering and Lead Interaction Designer at UsabilityLab.
