HSE Graduate School of Business Holds Fall Career Week

The HSE Graduate School of Business Career Centre held the traditional Fall Career Week and Job Fair, which took place online for the first time. 34 companies from different business sectors (consulting, finances, IT, FMCG, retail, and telecom) participated in the event. More than 63 representatives of different companies gave talks and master classes for GSB students.

In online sessions, representatives of leading companies talked about skills and competencies necessary for a successful career, gave advice on how to write an effective CV, and discussed real career opportunities available to HSE graduates. The Career Centre set up different formats for the events of the Week: meet-ups with ‘celebrities’ of the industry, events with recruiters, HR-sessions, and also master classes on how to get into companies such as as Coca-Cola, Otkritie Bank, SAP, Kearney, and others.

As Alexander Dynin, Deputy Dean for Corporate Affairs and Alumni Relations, notes, HSE graduates do not have problems with finding employment. They are highly valued on the labour market and receive offers from companies even while they are still completing their studies. However, this does not stop HSE from pushing further in its mission to ensure GSB graduates have every opportunity possible to receive offers from top companies with great potential.

‘We work with leading Russian and international companies and committee members of rankings such as Expert-200 and Fortune-500 to arrange positions for our students while they are still enrolled in our programmes. For that, we hold Career Week twice a year, during which employers give lectures on vocational guidance, specifics of careers in different spheres and companies, and talk about what employers look for in potential hires, and what career tracks are open for young specialists. On the second stage of the Career Week, employers offer real open vacancies they have to our students, who send their resumes to the companies in advance. At the Fair, the employers review the CVs in a pre-selection process. Students discuss their resumes with the employers and identify areas for improvement.’

Alexander Dynin believes that it is important for students to participate in events like this as early on as possible to get to know companies from different industries, learn more about their own interests, and start building a career trajectory already during their studies.
