Every year, winners of school olympiads make up a significant cohort of the first-year undergraduate students. Such young people are distinguished not only by their deep subject knowledge, but also by a broad outlook, and a strong desire to be part of university life in all its diversity. HSE News Service asked prospective first-year students who received 100 points on the Unified State Exam and the winners of various olympiads what helped them to get enrolled and why they chose HSE University.
FCS Students Win at International Mathematics Competition
Three bachelor’s students from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science programme in ‘Applied Mathematics and Information Science’ recently participated in the International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC), winning two first prizes and a second prize.

He was named the overall winner of the Econometrics Universiade 2023, an annual competition organised by Moscow State University, having come second in the competition last year. In early July, the Voronovo Study Centre hosted Scientarium, an off-site session for representatives of HSE University student research communities organised by the university’s Centre for Student Academic Development and Unit for the Popularisation of Science. More than 50 students from 10 scientific student associations and three campuses took part.
‘Our Graduates’ Task Is To Show Themselves as Designers’
In mid-July, HSE Art and Design School hosted the graduate fashion show for the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in the Fashion Design and Fashion Brand Creation pathways. Guests saw 20 collections from young designers, with each of them reflecting on an exciting topic, while creating unusual images from a variety of materials.
Students of HSE University’s GSB Present Results of Joint ESG Project with Big Business
HSE University’s Graduate School of Business has hosted the defence of the ‘Sustainable Development Practices’ term papers with an emphasis on the ESG agenda. First-year students of the Master’s programmes ‘Marketing: Digital Technology and Marketing Communications’ and ‘Retail Management’ presented group consulting projects on solving real-world cases with social and/or environmental issues from partner companies of the E+Change programme. This is the third year of this unique project between the GSB and E+Change, and is continuing to attract more and more participating companies.
