Visitors to the blazar art fair—the first major art event of autumn 2021—had the chance to visit the HSE Art and Design School stand to see works by Aleksandra Walz, Katerina Egorova, Polina Shilkinite, and Andrey Valmus. Another six HSE students and graduates took part as independent artists in the fair, which ran from September 8–12.
The Russian Museum of Ethnography and the HSE Art and Design School St. Petersburg will present an exhibition of works by the school’s students. The HSE OPEN DAYS: Poster, Sign, Book exhibition will run at the museum from September 15–26.
Held as part of the Second New Knowledge Marathon, the fourth HSE Science Battles attracted a wide audience. HSE Students Frol Sapronov, Marina Kasyulina, and Vsevolod Nikolsky took part in the competition’s new televised format to demonstrate how to talk about science vividly and in simple terms understandable to any audience.
From September 8 to 12, 2021, the HSE Art and Design School will present projects that examine the topics of online privacy, attention deficit disorder in the digital environment, the perception of the human body, and ‘dark ecology’. The annual HSE Student Research Paper Competition (SRPC) helps young researchers try their hand in a real academic competition, where leading experts and professionals from HSE University assess their research papers. This year, participation will be open from September 1 to October 15.
The Leaders of Russia competition is the flagship project of the Russia — Land of Opportunity presidential platform. This year, 15,420 people signed up for the Student category of the competition, 127 of whom made it to the finals and 54 were named winners.
The 4th International Economics Olympiad (IEO) has come to a close after taking place online in Latvia from July 21 to 1 August. The competition was organized by HSE University and the University of Latvia.
July 12 saw the YouTube release of the music video for the track ‘Amanat’ by the Tatar indie folk band Juna. The video was directed by Evgenia Sheinina, now a fourth-year student of the bachelor's programme in Animation and Illustration at HSE Art and Design School. She worked on the animated video across two modules with her supervisor Igor Kovalev. Evgenia spoke to HSE News Service about this unusual project.
