On September 23, the HSE University–St Petersburg Rope Shop Building hosted the Second Russian–Chinese Forum 'Culture of Education' and the annual meeting of the Russian–Chinese Association of Applied Research Institutes. More than 100 participants from leading non-government Chinese universities and representatives of 15 Russian universities discussed the integration of artificial intelligence in education and industry.

On September 15–16, 2025, the HSE Centre of Classical and Oriental Archaeology at the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies, Faculty of Humanities, held an international conference marking the fifth anniversary of excavations carried out by HSE archaeologists as part of the Parion Mission of Ondokuz Mayıs University, Samsun, at the agora of Parion.

The International BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre at HSE University presented the scientific report ‘From Fields to Futures: Competition, Financialisation, and Digitalisation in Global Grain Value Chains.’ The document was prepared as part of expert support from the BRICS Working Group on Competition Research in Food Markets. The presentation took place at the academic conference ‘Emerging Challenges of Competition Law and Policy in the BRICS and Beyond’ on September 12, 2025, in Cape Town (South Africa), which the BRICS Centre organised together with the University of Cape Town on the sidelines of the 9^th BRICS International Competition Conference.

Mark Angelo Gajardo, graduate of the Master's programme 'Comparative Politics of Eurasia,' presented his research at the 28th World Congress of Political Science organised by the International Political Science Association (IPSA).

Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov hosted the international research and educational seminar 'Branding Cultural Heritage: Digital Tools and Design Practices.' The event gathered researchers and students from Russia and Uzbekistan—participants of a large-scale project of the mirror laboratory 'Integrated Platform Solutions for the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage (Cases of Samarkand and St Petersburg)'.

The International Summer Institute on AI in Education has opened in Shanghai. The event is organised by the HSE Institute of Education in partnership with East China Normal University (ECNU). More than 50 participants and key speakers from over ten countries across Asia, Europe, North and South America have gathered to discuss the use of AI technologies in education and beyond.

The rapid growth of India’s economy and its predominantly young population present unprecedented opportunities for Russian businesses. However, success in this vast market requires a deep understanding of its internal diversity, as well as cultural and legal nuances. These issues were the focus of the business session ‘India: A Market of a Billion Chances. How to Succeed,’ organised by the expert club of the Eastern Perspective programme at the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs.

HSE University hosted a roundtable titled ‘New Challenges for Antitrust Regulation: The Chinese Perspective.’ The event was organised by the International BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre (BRICS Centre). Special guests included Chinese colleagues from the Competition Policy and Assessment Centre (CPAC) of the State Administration for Market Regulation of the People’s Republic of China (SAMR). Last year, the BRICS Centre and CPAC SAMR signed an agreement on strategic cooperation.

Researchers at HSE MIEM, in collaboration with Chinese scientists, have developed a catalyst that efficiently converts CO₂ into formic acid. Thanks to carbon coating, it remains stable in acidic environments and functions with minimal potassium, contrary to previous beliefs that high concentrations were necessary. This could lower the cost of CO₂ processing and simplify its industrial application—eg in producing fuel for environmentally friendly transportation. The study has been published in Nature Communications.
