  • HSE University Experts Take Part in Preparing Report ‘Russia—Oman—Partnership Prospects’ at SPIEF 2024

    The report, prepared by the Roscongress Foundation and experts of the HSE Institute for Public Administration and Governance, covers the current situation in the economy of the Sultanate of Oman and the prospects for Russian-Omani partnership. Prior to SPIEF 2024, HSE was the first Russian university to sign a cooperation agreement with the University of Nizwa (Oman).

  • Football Players Cover Greater Distances During Critical Derby Matches at Home Arena

    Researchers at the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences examined the level of effort that professional football players are willing to exert during a match in absence of financial incentives. The primary factors driving players to strive harder for victory are the strength of the opponent and the significance of the match for the club. This is particularly noticeable in derby matches between teams from the same city.

    Ana Livia Araujo Esteves, from Brazil, is a journalist, a doctoral student, and visiting lecturer at the HSE School of International Regional Studies.   • Charming East: HSE University Hosts Anniversary Oriental Crazy Day 2024

    At the end of May, HSE University hosted the traditional Oriental Crazy Day. This year the holiday was held for the tenth time. For students, this is an opportunity to show their talents on stage, take part in fortune-telling with the Book of Changes, and learn more about the diversity of Asian cultures as well as the bachelor’s programme ‘Asian and African Studies.’

  • Boundaries between Developmental Language Disorders and Typical Performance Blurred in Young Children

    A new study by researchers at the HSE Language and Brain Centre and the RAS Institute of Linguistics can change the understanding of language acquisition in young children, revealing that the boundaries between typical performance and developmental disorders are not as clear-cut as previously believed. The study has been published in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research.

  • HSE University and Sber Conduct Foresight in Artificial Intelligence

    HSE University, in collaboration with Sber, have conducted a foresight study on AI. Its early results were discussed by the participants of a strategic foresight session held at the Coordination Centre of the Russian Government, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. The results from the study will inform the Unified Research and Development Programme in the Field of AI.

  • New Opportunities: ICEF Hosts China’s SWUFE Delegation

    On May 22, ICEF HSE hosted a delegation from RIEM SWUFE, China, led by Executive Dean Professor Dong Yan. The parties exchanged copies of a cooperation agreement for the joint delivery of a Double-Degree Bachelor Programme in Economics and Finance. They also discussed cooperation in areas such as a joint Master’s programme, student and faculty exchange, summer schools, and joint research projects.

  • Researchers Discover Genetic Bridge between Ancient and Modern Populations of North Caucasus

    Scientists have, for the first time, conducted deep sequencing of ancient DNA from members of the Koban culture that emerged in the late Bronze Age in the North Caucasus and compared this genetic data with that of modern populations. Their findings confirm the role of Koban culture carriers as an ancient genetic bridge between the Bronze and Iron Ages. The study has been published in the European Journal of Human Genetics.
