  • Referee Recommendation System Developed by HSE University and RFU Wins Award

    An algorithm for selecting football referees developed by the HSE Laboratory of Sports Studies and the Russian Football Union has been named the Best IT Project in the Sports Industry by the Global CIO professional community. In order to recommend the most suitable referee for a match, the algorithm considers 30 parameters, including referees’ ratings, the venue, the need for rotation, etc.

  • HSE University-St Petersburg Opens Master's Programme in International Business in APR Countries

    2023 will see the first intake for the Master's programme 'International Business in the Asia-Pacific Region'. The HSE News Service talked to Liudmila Veselova, Academic Supervisor of the programme, about the opportunities available to students of the programme, as well as the reasons why the English language and a mathematical mindset are important for success in studies.

  • Wushu, Tekken and Fortune-telling by the Book of Changes: Lunar New Year Celebrated at HSE University

    On January 22nd, HSE Cultural Centre brought together Chinese, Korean, and Japanese cultures. The guests tried their hand at calligraphy, studied jianzhi and origami, played Ttakji and Go, ate traditional cookies and expelled evil spirits. The Lunar New Year at the university was organized by the School of Asian Studies and the HSE Chinese Club.

  • ‘Earth Is Our Only Home; We Must Preserve It’

    The Green HSE student organisation recently held the ‘Green Conversation’ festival at the Cultural Centre on Pokrovsky Bulvar. At the event, participants discussed the planet’s main ecological problems and the steps required to start building a green future today. Visitors to the festival learned more about nature and rare animals in Russia, as well as donated unwanted clothing and recyclable waste to environmental organisations.

The course author, Ksenia Demeneva, Associate Professor of the School of Literature and Intercultural Communication at the Faculty of Humanities at HSE University-Nizhny Novgorod, discusses how to capture your audience's attention and make you story unforgettable.

  • Kamchatka: Your Amazing Adventure

    The photo exhibition ‘Kamchatka: Your Amazing Adventure’ was officially opened as part of the Days of Kamchatka held by HSE University in the building on Pokrovsky Boulevard from January 19 to February 10. Visitors will learn about life in the region through photos of the peninsula landscapes, the traditional dog-sled race, and the main symbols of the Kamchatka Region—brown bears, Pacific salmon, and wild reindeer.

  • Dancing, Quizzes, and a Space Dog: Student Night 2023 at HSE University

    This year, HSE University started celebrating Student Day on the evening of January 24, when the traditional Digital Night festival kicked off at Pokrovka. For the first time since 2019, it was held in the pre-pandemic format: the quizzes, board games, lectures, dancing and master classes didn't stop until 6 am.

    Getting a master's degree with honours in ‘Management in Technical Systems’ was not the end point of Evgenia Fadina’s educational trajectory. This first-year student on the HSE online master’s programme ‘Economic Analysis’ works in the project office of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Her digital master's degree will help her achieve career success in executive bodies, she believes.
