Medical Documents Confirming your Absence at Examinations
A valid reason for missing an exam includes illness, confirmed by a medical certificate*, as well as other valid reasons. For a reason to be recognised as valid, supporting documents must be verified by submitting an application through the Student Service Centre’s electronic service.
*A medical certificate refers to a document confirming the student's temporary incapacity during a specific period, issued in the prescribed manner and in the form approved by the Russian Ministry of Health (spravka 095/у). The university has the right to verify the authenticity of the medical certificate by sending a request to the medical institution that issued the certificate provided by the student. International students may submit additional information and documents issued by foreign organisations. Documents issued in languages other than Russian or English, or obtained from foreign sources, must be accompanied by a notarised translation into Russian or English.
Circumstances related to a student’s work (e.g., business trips, working hours) are not considered valid reasons.
Absence from non-exam assessments is not reviewed for valid reasons.
If you missed an interim assessment element worth at least 30% of the final grade, you may complete it before the exam period if the instructor allows it and specifies conditions for making up missed coursework in the course syllabus.
