place is where HSE’s English-language website ranked in the Russian International Affairs Council’s (RIAC) list of the best English-language websites of Russian universities. The ranking included 45 different Russian universities.
For comparison, the Council looked at 11 foreign schools from the QS ranking’s top-100 list whose native language is not English. An electronic internationalization index was calculated using 108 parameters broken up into 16 sections that assessed how well a website reflects information on the structure and history of a university, its educational programmes, student life, alumni, staff, research, and much more. According to the ranking’s compilers, ‘HSE was the clear leader in the top-ten list, receiving 13 points more than the university in second place. The university also stands as a real competitor for the ranking’s foreign leaders – the University of Amsterdam, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, and the University of Zurich – surpassing the remaining foreign universities used for comparison.
According to Nicholas Marmet, International Communications Manager, ‘HSE’s English-language website is tremendously important for the university in communicating with international academics, researchers, students, applicants, and others living outside of Russia. We’ve been working to turn the site into a true window into the university, making information, events, and opportunities as accessible as possible for the international audience.’
