Researchers from the HSE Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience took part in the annual Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM) conference, which was held on June 14–18, 2026 in Bordeaux, France. The team presented a series of studies on the perception of misleading narratives, manipulative messages, and the evaluation of information source credibility.
In early June, the Science Republic initiative of the Centre for Student Academic Development presented popular science projects at the Science and Ice Cream Festival at VDNKh. On June 18, Valeria Koncha, a researcher at the International Centre for the Study of Institutions and Development, successfully defended her PhD dissertation on the topic: "The Transformation of Protesters’ Collective Identities in Interaction with Counter‑Protest: The Cases of "Black Lives Matter" and "All Lives Matter" (2013–2014)".
Researchers at HSE University, in collaboration with colleagues from other Russian institutions, have identified which mutations in the ACVRL1 gene may be pathogenic in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension. The team modelled how genetic variations affect ATP binding to the protein—a process essential for transmitting signals required for normal vascular function. The researchers found that 20 of the 32 variants studied can disrupt signal transmission and are therefore likely to cause disease. The findings have been published in the Journal of Structural Biology.
