HSE-EEC Partnership Enters New Stage
In addition to providing research and expert support for the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), HSE will also develop educational programmes on the most pressing problems of Eurasian integration. As well as this, HSE and the EEC are launching a regular exchange of information and analytics.
How HSE/EEC cooperation started
EEC and HSE have a long experience of working together. The university started cooperating with the Commission when the latter was created in February 2012. Since then, various HSE departments have carried out more than 20 research projects, including those in statistics, macroeconomics, agriculture, trade, customs administration, and technical regulation (all of which are priority areas for EEC development). HSE has, in fact, become one of the pre-eminent universities providing expert analysis on the issues of Eurasian integration. In addition to this, students and young scholars from HSE regularly go on internships to the EEC and take part in its summer schools.
This new stage of HSE/EEC cooperation will include comprehensive collaboration in several areas. Particularly, a joint session with EEC on Eurasian integration has been planned as part of the 2018 April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.
New educational projects
HSE will be developing new educational programmes, both degree and continuing education ones.
The university is going to open the first master’s programme in Eurasian economic integration. This will train experts in the international economy, specializing in regional economic integration.
The continuing education programmes will cover the most relevant areas of Eurasian development. It is expected that they will attract representatives from Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) institutions, governmental bodies, businesses and NGOs from EEU and other countries. Right now, from February 2017 to April 2018, the Eurasian sector of the HSE Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS) is offering an open course in Eurasian economic integration, a joint project with the EEC which is taught by experts from EEC, the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), and other related organizations.
How to follow the news
EEC is ready to provide the HSE Students and staff with its monthly and annual statistical reviews, various industrial studies, annual EEU handbooks, legal acts, programmes, and forecasts. The information exchange between EEC and HSE will be based on an RSS subscription. In addition to this, everyone interested will be able to subscribe to EEU news on the commission website.
HSE, for its part, is ready to provide EEU staff with information and analysis (journals, statistical reviews, working papers etc). The CCEIS Eurasian sector will coordinate the information exchange and collaboration.
If HSE departments are interested in distributing the results of their research and analysis throughout the Eurasian space, they can contact CCEIS. They already have a library of publications on Eurasian integration issued by EEC, EDB, Valdai Club, Russian International Affairs Council, and other organizations, all of which are available for interested students, lecturers and scholars.
Such an information exchange can be particularly interesting and useful for research departments and scholars who deal with regional integration, global economic regulation, and post-Soviet processes, as well as global economy and politics.

The Brain in Space: Investigating the Effects of Long Spaceflights on Space Travellers
As part of an international project conducted with the participation of Roscosmos and the European Space Agency, a team of researchers used differential tractography to analyse dMRI scans ofcosmonauts’ brains and found significant changes in brain connectivity, with some of the changes persisting after seven months back on Earth. The paper is published in Frontiers in Neural Circuits.
HSE University-Perm and the Training Centre of the Uzbek Ministry of Finance Sign Cooperation Agreement

HSE University Strengthens Ties with Netherlands in Agricultural Research and Education

The Majority of Russians Do Not Support Microchip Implants
The majority of Russians would not agree to being fitted with microchip implants for any purposes—medical or otherwise. A joint study conducted by HSE University’s International Laboratory for Applied Network Research and Aventica found that respondents believe the risks of personal data leaks and misuse to be too high.
