  • HSE University and Peking University Expand Their Partnership

    Peking University President Gao Song paid his first visit to HSE University as part of his first overseas trip since taking office in May 2026. The main purpose of the talks was to consolidate existing areas of cooperation and expand joint projects between HSE University and Peking University within the framework of the Cross Years of Russia–China Cooperation in Education (2026–2027).

  • AI for Doctors: HSE Faculty of Computer Science Delivers Course for Russian University of Medicine Students

    In June 2026, the HSE Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) completed a course on the use of artificial intelligence in medicine for first-year Paediatrics students at the Russian University of Medicine. The course was delivered with support from a grant awarded to HSE University under the Artificial Intelligence federal project, part of the national project ‘Data Economy and the Digital Transformation of the State.’

  • HSE Experts Provide Insights into Platform Employment in Russia

    7.4 million Russians use digital platforms to find jobs. Through websites and applications, they work as couriers, tutors, and drivers. While young people remain the most active participants in platform employment, this form of work is also becoming common among other age groups. These findings were presented by HSE experts at the seminar ‘Platform Employment in Russia: Dynamics, Internal Heterogeneity, and Prospects for Social Guarantees.’

  • ‘Science Is Universal—It Knows No Borders’

    Fuad Aleskerov, Director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis at HSE University, together with his colleagues, has developed methods of network analysis in bibliometrics that have made it possible to identify patterns in the appearance and citation of publications in academic journals, as well as their influence on each other. When one or a number of studies are frequently cited by a wide range of journals, this is an indicator that the research is of high quality.

  • Scientists Create Open Dataset for Studying Concentration

    A team of researchers, including scientists from HSE University–St Petersburg, has developed the first open multimodal dataset containing recordings of brain activity, heart function, and video observations to help researchers understand what happens in the human brain during deep concentration. In the future, the dataset could accelerate the development of neural interfaces, rehabilitation technologies, and AI systems.

  • HSE MIEM and Nanotronika Launch New Track in Digital Systems of Technological Complexes of Electronics

    HSE MIEM, in partnership with Nanotronika JSC, is launching a new master's track: Digital Systems of Technological Complexes of Electronics . Students will study the design of specialised equipment for electronic manufacturing while working on real-world engineering projects together with the industrial partner. The new track is designed to prepare specialists for one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand sectors of the high-tech industry.

  • Scientists Propose Method for More Efficient Resource Use in Machine Learning

    An international group of researchers, including mathematicians from the AI and Digital Science Institute at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science, has provided a theoretical justification for a simple and computationally efficient method of estimating uncertainty in Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD). The paper has been published on the scientific preprint server arXiv.org and presented at AISTATS 2026.
