Study Tours: A Two-Way Road
Recently the HSE Higher School of Management welcomed a group of students from the Johnson School of Management, Cornell University, USA, which specializes in MBA programmes. Representatives of U.S. Universities’ Administrations Visited the HSE
On February 28th the administration of the Higher School of Economics met with a delegation of U.S. universities’ administrations representatives, leading staff members of the Institute of International Education, USA, and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).
HSE and NES: Joint Bachelor of Arts Programme
In September 2011 a joint undergraduate programme was launched by the Higher School of Economics and the New Economic School. Vladimir Avtonomov, Dean of the HSE Faculty of Economics, and Konstantin Sonin, Vice Rector of the New Economic School (NES), told us more about the programme.

Recently Professor Wesley Johnston from Georgia State University (USA) read a course of lectures on marketing strategies to students of the HSE Faculty of Management. In October, Professor Abel Polese from the University of Edinburgh Institute of Geography gave a series of lectures at the Higher School of Economics for students of the Faculty of Politics, as part of the IMESS Visiting Scholars programme. Boris Zhelezov, Deputy Vice Rector and Head of the Office of International Academic Mobility of the HSE, and Abel Polese himself told us about the lectures and the IMESS programme.

On November 29th Howard Davies, Director of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), gave a public lecture at the HSE cultural center on ‘Europe — the lost continent?’. The meeting was organized by the HSE International College of Economics and Finance.
Agreement on Cooperation in Software Engineering
In early November the Higher School of Economics and the Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands) signed a partnership agreement.
Strategic Partnership Development
On November 9th the Russian Ministry of Education and Science officially announced that the HSE and the George Mason University, among others, were winners of a contest organized in 2010 as part of the joint Russian-American university programme. This autumn a delegation from the U.S. Department of Education visited the HSE to discuss the prospects for cooperation. Boris Zhelezov, Deputy Vice Rector of the HSE, told us about the results of the visit and new directions of interaction.
Challenges for Universities
On October 22nd and 23rd the first international conference ‘Research in Higher Education’ took place at the Higher School of Economics. The event was organized by the HSE together with the Boston College Center for International Higher Education, the World Bank and the National Foundation for Professional Training.
