The Study Tour Experience is a project for those who want to experience HSE student life and upgrade their CVs. In the fall semester of the 2024/25 academic year, the Study Tour Experience is planned for November 11–23, 2024.

An online course 'What is Generative AI?’ has been launched on the Open Education platform, which will help students learn more about how to properly communicate with neural networks so that they can perform tasks better. Daria Kasyanenko, an expert at the CPD Centre and senior lecturer at the Big Data and Information Retrieval School, spoke about how generative AI works and how to create content with its help.

Roosevelt Ogah is a first-year student of the master’s programme in Economics and Economic Policy at HSE University. He studies on the research track ‘Microeconomics and Macroeconomics’ and demonstrates very high academic performance. In his interview, he shares his experience of studying abroad for the first time and some tips on how to achieve high results in studies.

On April 14–19, 2024, two finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) took place in Luxor (Egypt). The teams from HSE University’s Faculty of Computer Science became world champions in the 47th ICPC final and received gold medals in the 46th final.

HSE University was the first Russian university to sign a cooperation agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay aimed at conducting joint research and fostering academic and cultural ties. The document was signed by Anna Tyshetskaya, Director of the HSE Campus in St Petersburg, and the head of IIT Bombay, Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri.

‘Mirror Laboratories’ is one of the flagship programmes of the HSE University aimed at developing domestic scientific partnerships. During the implementation of the project, 41 research projects were initiated in partnership with 30 regional universities and scientific organisations. A series of round tables timed to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the ‘Mirror Laboratories’ project, were held at the HSE University on April 24–25, 2024.

The Baltic Federal University recently hosted an International Congress entitled ‘The World Concept of Philosophy’ in honour of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Immanuel Kant. The event brought together about 500 scientists and experts from 23 countries. HSE Rector Nikita Anisimov took part in the opening plenary session of the congress titled ‘Critique of Artificial Intelligence: Being and Cognition in the Context of Artificial Intelligence Development.’

On April 15, 2024 HSE University hosted a roundtable discussion ‘Africa and BRICS: Reflections and Prospects.’ The event featured leading experts from the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) Steven Gruzd and Gustavo de Carvalho and was moderated by HSE Vice Rector and Head of the BRICS Expert Council–Russia Victoria Panova.

The HSE University’s master’s programme in Science, Technology and Innovation Management and Policy is launching a double degree programme with the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil. Below, Dirk Meissner from HSE University, together with Bruno Fischer and Gustavo Salati from Unicamp, talk about the importance of academic knowledge for non-academic professions, the selection prerequisites for the programme, and the advantages of this type of cooperation for leading national universities.
