  • MIEM Tech Day at Pokrovka: Exploring HSE’s Engineering DNA Together

    On May 26, 2026, the central atrium of the building at 11 Pokrovsky Bulvar will host the annual large-scale festival of engineering developments created by project teams from the HSE MIEM. The programme includes presentations of the best student technological projects, stands from partner companies and joint workshops, and presentations of MIEM master’s degree programmes.

  • Representatives of Universities Worldwide Discuss Challenges of Higher Education in the Age of AI in St Petersburg

    On May 20, more than 100 delegates from 20 countries, including China, Brazil, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Qatar, and the UAE, took part in the business programme ofHSE International Partners’ Week 2026. The key sessions of the large-scale forum, dedicated to priority areas of global cooperation in science and higher education, were held at the Sergey Kuryokhin Centre for Contemporary Art in St Petersburg.

  • HSE University to Present Digital Projects at CIPR 2026

    CIPR 2026, Russia’s largest conference on the digital transformation of key industrial sectors, has opened in Nizhny Novgorod. The event brings together Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, members of the government, governors, company executives, and researchers. This year, HSE University has become an official partner of the conference. University representatives will take part in expert sessions and sign agreements, while the university’s exhibition stand will showcase its digital developments.

  • Living with Volcanoes and Tsunamis

    It is not easy to get university graduates and students interested in living and working in Kamchatka, a remote region with harsh natural conditions and an extreme climate. Mirror Laboratories, a joint project of the HSE Institute of Education and Kamchatka State University (KamGU), encourages the development of ‘explorer’ competencies and the modernisation of the region’s education system.   • HSE Graduate’s AI Project Wins at TECH & AI Awards

    Daria Davydova, graduate of the HSE Graduate School of Business and Head of the AI Implementation Unit at the Artificial Intelligence Department of Alfa-Bank, received a prize at the TECH & AI Awards. She was awarded for the best AI solution for optimising business processes. The winners were determined as part of the VII Russian Summit and Awards on Digital Transformation (CDO/CDTO Summit & Awards).

  • Short Film by HSE Film Institute Graduates and Students Featured in Short Film Catalogue at 2026 Cannes Film Festival

    The short film Funeral House Life, produced as a graduation project at the HSE Film Institute, has been included in the Short Film Corner catalogue of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. This black comedy by HSE graduates was the only entirely Russian-produced project selected for this year’s programme.

  • New Neural Network for Science and Innovation Being Developed at HSE University

    HSE researchers are training large language models (LLMs) to understand Russian-language scientific terminology while improving their energy efficiency. The adapted model runs 2.7 times faster and requires 73% less memory than the original open model, allowing it to operate on more affordable hardware. The programme has passed state registration.

  • Student Develops Innovative Method for Detecting Oil Using PCR Tests

    Fedor Shirshikov, a student of the Master's in Corporate Research, Development and Innovation Management at HSE University, has proposed an innovative technology for identifying oil and gas fields by detecting indicator microbes using PCR tests. The new method could help reduce the number of costly dry drilling operations.
