The Statistical AI Conference was held in Sanya, Hainan Island, China, from 24 to 28 August 2026. The international event brought together leading experts in statistics, machine learning, and applied AI. Alexey Naumov, Director of the AI and Digital Science Institute at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science, and Sergey Samsonov, Head of the International Laboratory of Stochastic Algorithms and High-Dimensional Inference, were among the conference organisers.

The International Youth Festival (IYF) will be held in Yekaterinburg from 11 to 17 September 2026. HSE University will take an active part in the event. The university's booth will present a space settlement mock-up, robots, and the iFORA big data analysis system. Fifty HSE students will visit festival venues, and experts will participate in the business programme.

The AI and Digital Science Institute at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science invites researchers, developers and everyone shaping the future of technology to the fifth, anniversary edition of the Fall into Machine Learning conference (Fall into ML 2026). The event will take place on October 23–24, 2026, at the HSE Cultural Centre in Moscow and will become the key meeting point for Russia’s AI community.

Roman Aminev, a fourth-year student of the Information Science and Computation Technology programme at HSE MIEM, spent his last academic year in Hungary, where he studied at Óbuda University under the academic mobility programme. In Budapest, he not only joined the educational process but also learned how to face everyday challenges and solve academic issues. He had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, and tell them about his country and HSE University. In the interview, Roman told us how his one-year immersion into an unfamiliar life had changed him.

International conflicts, crises and digital overload—the world puts our minds to the test every day. Psychology often focuses on the consequences: anxiety and depression. But what if we looked at the problem through the lens of the resources that prevent us from breaking down? Psychological immunity is precisely this set of resources, and Alena Zolotareva and her group are developing an integrative model of this phenomenon. Why do psychologists need to collaborate with medical professionals, and how could their research transform preventive care in clinics and corporations?

The HSE Scientometrics Centre analysed more than 104,000 papers published between 2020 and 2025 and presented at ten top-level A* conferences ranked by ICORE 2026. The researchers examined the contributions of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Together, these countries accounted for around 40,800 publications, or 39.2% of the total. However, the distribution is highly uneven, and a shared BRICS research space has yet to emerge.

On December 3–5, 2026, HSE University in Moscow will host ‘Comorbid Field 3.0: Social Well-Being, Health, and Medicine in Multiple Contexts,’ an interdisciplinary scientific conference organised by the HSE Centre for Comparative Research on Social Well-Being together with the HSE University–St Petersburg School of Arts and Humanities, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Health Research at the European University at St Petersburg, and Sechenov University. Applications for participation are open until October 4.

The HSE Graduate School of Business has launched a new Master’s Programme in Business Analytics and Digital Solutions in Finance, created jointly with Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, VTB, and the Moscow Stock Exchange with the expert support of the Bank of Russia. The programme aims to train specialists capable of not only analysing data, but also using it to develop digital products and making business decisions in the financial sector.

HSE University researchers will take part in a study of the future of engineering education in Malaysia, while the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) will use the iFORA big-data analysis system to validate the findings of its foresight research. These are the outcomes of a visit by HSE representatives to Kuala Lumpur.
