Responsibilities

Pursuant to Order No. 6.18.1-01/2805-07 of May 28, 2014:

  1. Sergey Roshchin supervises HSE activities related to higher education graduate programmes.
  2. He is responsible for organizing:
    • licensing and accreditation of HSE and its branches with respect to conducting educational activities
    • external expert analysis to evaluate the quality of HSE’s educational process
    • teaching and learning activities of HSE departments that run graduate education programmes
  3. He coordinates HSE’s partner relations with associations of Russian higher education institutions, including the Association of Leading Russian Universities in Economics and Management.
  4. He coordinates and controls the work of the following departments:

Data Culture: HSE Will Teach All Its Students to Work with Data

HSE will launch a new project called Data Culture in September 2017. Starting their very first year, HSE bachelor’s students will learn to work with data, and students in a number of programmes will also become familiarised with methods of machine-learning and artificial intelligence.

The number of people subscribing to HSE’s online courses on Coursera, one of the world’s most popular online learning platforms, has reached 1 million. Users represent nearly the entire globe, with HSE courses being taken in nearly 200 countries.

Coursera: 'Over 70% of Those Who Enrol in HSE's Online Courses Are Outside of Russia'

A team of specialists from the educational platform Coursera visited the Higher School of Economics for the first time ever this April. The group was made up of Coursera’s Regional Manager Inessa Roman-Pogorzhelskaya, Content Partnerships Manager Nathan Hite, and Teaching & Learning Specialist Alexandra Urban, and during their time at the university they met with HSE Vice Rector Sergey Roshchin, Online Learning Director Evgeny Kulik, and staff from the eLearning Office. The two teams discussed Coursera’s development strategy, as well as HSE’s future cooperation with the online platform.

Admissions for HSE Doctoral Programmes Now Open

New regulations simplifying admissions to HSE’s doctoral programmes have been approved. The procedure includes two application waves that consider personal achievements, and offers more opportunities for those who speak foreign languages. Vice Rector Sergey Roshchin told us more about the changes.

Starting this year, English language papers by Russian and international students at HSE will be tested for plagiarism using the Turnitin service. HSE is one of the first Russian universities to join this anti-plagiarism system.
