HSE Experts Discuss the Situation in the Country with Presidential Aide Maxim Oreshkin

They talked about the current socioeconomic situation and the future of Russia's development. The discussion was moderated by HSE Academic SupervisorYaroslav Kuzminov.

Experts on the Consequences of COVID-19: The Pandemic Gives Impetus to Science and Technology

TheHuman Capital Multidisciplinary Research Centre and HSE University, in cooperation with the World Bank, held the conference ‘New Challenges of Demographic, Epidemiological and Medical-Technological Development: Search for New Models of Healthcare Development.’ The participants discussed whether the healthcare system was prepared to face the pandemic, how the latter affected lifespans and excess mortality rates, whether we can trust statistics, and what we should do to see ‘the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel.’     

Inequality and Social Cholesterol: How to Find Balance in Society

What are the outcomes of growing inequality? How much inequality is there in Russian healthcare and education? What does Russian society think about inequality? (Spoiler: that it’s excessively high and unfair.) These questions and many others were discussed by Russian and French researchers at the conference ‘Socio-economic Inequality and Poverty in the Modern World: Measures, Dynamics, and Prospects in an Age of Uncertainty’.

Medvedev Rewards Strategy 2020 Experts

The Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, has awarded honours to some researchers from the Higher School of Economics for their work on the Strategy 2020 expert groups, including organization of the groups, the preparation of suggestions on topical issues for Russian socio-economic strategy up to 2020 and their personal input into the expert and analytical work

On 15 November 2011, a meeting was held of committee heads from the Russian Chamber Commerce and Industry, dedicated to a discussion of key aspects of Russia's socioeconomic development, as set out in the Strategy-2020 project. The event was opened and hosted by President of the Russian CCI Sergei KATYRIN.
The expert reports to the meeting were preceded by a brief welcoming address by NRU HSE Rector Yaroslav KUZMINOV. Reports were also presented by head of the expert group Optimising the state's presence: reducing regulatory functions, ensuring transparency and feedback in relations with civilians and business Andrei KLIMENKO, head of the expert group Strengthening market institutions. Ensuring stable conditions for ownership and development of competition and stimulating small business Andrei YAKOVLEV and head of the expert group Human health and habitat Sergei SHISHKIN.
